KHERSON, Ukraine – Ukrainians in the Kherson province just north of Crimea say Russian operatives have moved into the territory, an incursion which, if true, could show Vladimir Putin has more than just the Black Sea peninsula in his sights.

Residents of the village of Chonhar, in the Kherson region of Ukraine, say Russian troops showed up last week in armored personnel carriers, prompting the dispatch of Ukrainian troops and a standoff. The suspected Russian troops pulled back and established a checkpoint on a major road leading north from the Crimean capital of Simferopol.

KHERSON, Ukraine

A.K.A City of the Brides. They were probably just out cruising for babes.

In this day and age, if there aren’t pictures or video, I generally assume it didn’t happen.

Not to say it won’t.

Eastern Ukraine has a lot of Russian speakers and is rich in resources and industry. I doubt Putin will resist the chance to grab it.

True or not - why wouldn’t Putin go there?

Heck, march on Paris, brother. No one is going to stop you, man.

“No one is going to stop you, man.”

Got that right. The UN and Nato will send lots of observers tho, to make sure no rules of war are violated.

The Ukrainians may be a bit slow, but sooner or later they need to realize that no one is coming to help them. Right or wrong, the only way you're going to come out of this mess in one piece is if you show that you're willing to fight for your country. They should mobilize, talk tough, and beef up the border, then see what Russia does. Looking for a global handout or waiting for John Kerry to save the day is wasting everyone's time.

Maybe we could learn a thing or two from them.

Militarily or economically. They also have to realize that the west will give them loans they can never pay back, not gifts. If they can't do the "independence" thing without being independent, what the heck do they want?

....."Looking for a global handout or waiting for John Kerry to save the day is wasting everyone's time.".......

Ukraines' Acting PM calls on Western nations today to help 'defend' against Russian invasion. No doubt they want the US to Militarily come to their defense....but Nato might just do so with US backing....IMO Kerry and diplomacy do not ever belong in the same sentence!

But, but, but odumbo promised that “...this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on Earth. This was the moment - this was the time - when we came together to remake this great nation so that it may always reflect our very best selves, and our highest ideals.”

Soooooo, he is going to draw another line in the sand, hold his breath, stomp his feet...write a curt e-mail to Putin and leave off sincerely or add “this time I mean it.”

Russia is going to do what Russia is going to do and obungler is NOT going to do a GD thing...more hot air, more leading from behind, more BS. The new American normal - IMPOTENT!!!

Many Russian speaking Ukrainians don't want to be part of Russia. Most Ukrainians don't want to be part of Russia. Whatever land Putin grabs in Ukraine he is going against the will of the people there.

So say former Ukrainians living in this country that I know who are in contact with people back in Ukraine.

I hope you are right because I doubt Putin will want to stop with Crimea once he has the taste of blood.
