32nd Arrest For Hartford Man On Drug and Weapons Charges

A 33-year-old Hartford man faces drug and weapons charges after he was arrested by the Hartford Police Departments Special Operations Group. Police with a warrant arrived at 129 South Street, were they foiund an illegal firearm whose serial number had been obliterated, ammunition and a holster, plus crack cocaine, scales, bags, and cutting agents.
Police say they found Travale Givens several blocks away.

Do they just get a slap on the wrist and probation the first couple of times, or what?

Prosecutors accept a quick plea bargain. It counts as a conviction for the prosecutor, convictee spends a month or so in jail or gets probation, everybody's happy. Except the victims.
It should be the rule that after the 2nd arrest, no plea bargain is allowed. They go to trial on max charges, and the jury decides what to do.
Most violent crime is committed by chronic offenders. Get them off the street long-term, and you reduce crime.
