Daily Mail ^ | March 12, 2014

Russia could launch a 'full scale' invasion that would see troops overrun Ukraine in hours, a senior security official warned today.

The secretary of Ukraine's National Security and National Defence Committee Andriy Parubiy claimed Russia has 80,000 troops, 280 tanks and 170 aircraft massed on the border ready to invade.

'They are adding to this military potential,' he said. 'We have a critical situation on the entire southeastern border. The Russian army is only two to three hours from Kiev.'

Ukraine's defences would be incapable in the face of a Russian invasion, he said.

“Ukraine is so poor (due to mismanagement, not due to lack of resources or of educated workers) that merely joining Russia already boosts the income of the population.”

There are three million Ukrainians who work in Russia and are sending money to their families in Ukraine, for a total estimated at $3 billion a year.

“Where have all the strong leaders gone that knew right from wrong, dared to speak up and stand for the truth? Instead we have a president trying to sell to the millenials a bad healthcare law ...

Are we screwed or what???!!!”

I’m afraid you are. The Republicans weren’t able to get capable candidates, neither in 2008, nor in 2012, so you’re stuck with a blabbering idiot in the WH.

Oh yea....they actually had a meeting about not repeating the mistakes they made when they tried to do the deed with the “Orange Revolution” in Ukraine...that did not go as they planned....but the powers that be do march on.....

If I can find that reference I’ll bring it to the forum.

You cite an article from "Global Research" which itself got it from "Voice of Russia".

Of course Russia is going to portray the Orange Revolution as being a CIA plot. The funny things about it though, the people on the Maidan THEN, where just as serious as they were just recently, with hundreds of thousands turning out in favor of change -- away from Russia.

But here's what 'rationalwiki' --- who is no friend of conservatives in the U.S., particularly those of religious faith, has to say about this Canadian, ultra-progressive "Global Research";

Globalresearch.ca (also under the domain name globalresearch.org) may best be described as a left-wing equivalent to WingNutDaily. It is the website of the Montreal-based non-profit The Centre for Research on Globalisation (CRG), founded by Michel Chossudovsky.

The website describes itself as an "independent research and media organization." Globalresearch.ca takes pride in being a reliable "alternative news" source serving as a major repository of a broad range of "news articles, in-depth reports and analysis on issues which are barely covered by the mainstream media" (such as the New World Order). Its politico-economic stance is strongly anti-capitalist, anti-imperialist, anti-militarist, "internationalist but anti-globalization." Its view of science, the economy and geopolitics seems to be broadly conspiracist.

While many of Globalresearch.ca's articles discuss legitimate humanitarian or environmental concerns, the site has a strong undercurrent of reality warping and bullshit throughout its pages, especially in relation to taking its news from "Russia Today", along with other unreliable and/or open sources.

If you wish to post items on FreeRepublic, please do better than the typical garbage cans (such as "Global Research") you have been accessing, while you continue your lop-sided disinformation campaign.

What is it with you, anyway? YOu hate America, huh? Your own hatred blinds you, but you *think* you are smart, and it is everyone else that is stupid. Yeah, uh-huh, like those Jews who thought communism was a smashing good idea, about a hundred years ago? Many in Europe and Eastern Europe and Russia went that-a-way, for it seemed like such a good idea at the time.

There were socialists and few communists in the USA, back in the 1930's. Those ideologies did seem like promising alternative. It's too bad those ideologies bring more problems to the table than they are worth. In most places it has been attempted (other than on limited basis, in small homogenous nations perhaps) time and again socialism, and it's full-flower --- communism -- have been horrific failures, bringing misery on scale much wider and deeper than anything like "paradise".

But you seem to keep backing anyone and anything that is in opposition to free market ideologies, the US and Western Europe in general. WHY, tell us why.

My post was just a joke. ;-)

But regarding them catching the west with their pants down, I was one of the guys that actually mused here on FR about how long after the olympics Russia would invade.

My pants were up and suspenders firmly attached.

I agree except for one point.

This is more like WWI than II. The world powers that seem so strong today may fall rather quickly once a real wars starts.

Yes, and the animosity is unfortunate since the Ukrainians were always on the receiving end and the Russians and the communist inflicted horrors that resemble the Holocaust and Mao's brutality to his people. But hey, Putin's a swell dude only trying to break the obstinate Ukrainians of their pernicious and long lasting idea that they're an independent nation. Shame on them for that. And Putin's not Obama, even if they're both statist nut jobs, so whatever he inflicts on these people is well deserved.

Ukraine Activists from Kiev 'bused in' to Donetsk's to oppose Pro-Russian gathering...no surprise they were not welcomed...unwilling to leave peacefully the Pro-Russians showed them the door to their buses.

You instigate a fight..you're going to get it...they should have left when asked, better they should have stayed in Kiev

Don’t be a fool and stop getting your news from the Moscow times or RT. I was literally seeing photos and videos of that earlier today, and tweets from people on the ground. The “pro-moscow demonstrators” surrounded the Ukrainians and attacked them, murdering two people and injuring much more.

A “memorandum” signed by a President is not a treaty, which requires ratification by Congress. Who would determine that it’s “legally binding”? If it wasn’t agreed to by NATO, the UN Security Council, or under another treaty in which the U.S. is obligated, this is meaningless. I could see it being used as an excuse to go to war, but definitely not a mandate to force us into war.

Stop accusing me as you’re doing! I obtain what I bring here from all sources....as it should be...because people on FR are certainly able to discern for themselves what they see as the whole picture and your bashing my posts all the time certainly attests you are NOT seeking the truth.

Of course the Pro-Russian people surrounded them...they “invaded” their gathering with the intent to disrupt it. Their turf! Do you really think the same would not have happened had the Pro-Russian people gone to Kiev and opposed the Euromaidens there? Come on...I can’t believe you’d be so nieve.

These were Eromaiden ‘MEN’ bused into to a Pro-Russian gathering with deliberate attempt for a confrontation and knew full well they would get this....as you saw in the videos there were no woman nor children in those buses...they were looking for a confrontation and is what they do....so quit soft selling Eromaidens thugs as if they aren’t the thugs they are.

The people of the country are in full confrontation mode from all sides......no thanks to the idiot countries undergirding these protests.....I’ve watched plety as well GPH and will surely draw my own conclusions...and voice my opinion as to what I see.

You are clearly against the Russian people...so be it...I for one take no sides in this issue as I’ve stated many times.

Good grief...you can't post the happenings or opinions or sources here on FR without being criticized for doing so anymore. What ever happened to seeing what there is to see on FR and people here making their own judgment on what is truth? I've run into this before when what opposing arguments are posted, and those in opposition to what the obvious is resort to name calling and condescending remarks. Looks like this Ukraine/Russia issue is bringing out the worst in Freepers.
