Watching out for drunks on the highway was bad enough, now be on the lookout for driving while on dope. Driving while drugged arrests have gone up in Washington State since the state legalized the mind-numbing recreation drug. It will only get worse.

I find that very hard to believe.
The ‘Fors’ in this debate said we need to pass this law to allow people to sit in the comfort of their home and smoke pot. They can’t relax if they are under threat of arrest if they go buy pot to take it home and smoke it. And why should those that have prescriptions for ‘medical(HA)’ MJ be shamed when they light up.
Of course you realize I am being very sarcastic here...
Cell phone use causes even more crashes. Obviously, banning cell phones is the only “conservative” thing to do, right?
I have no doubt it will, whether drugs are legal or not. Though I personally refrain from using illegal drugs and alcohol,(except for maybe an occasional drink with dinner)as screwed up our country has become, just about everyone will have to be 'on something' just to somewhat tolerate it. lol
In truth, these numbers do not tell us anything about the dangerousness of marijuana. They could merely reflect an increase in consumption. If more Washingtonians are smoking pot, more drivers will test positive for THC, which does not necessarily mean they are impaired.
That's because traces of THC stay in the bloodstream for up to weeks, while the intoxication lasts only a few hours.
Except that when marijuana laws are liberalized, roads get safer. There was a good study posted in one of these threads last month.
Either the pot spokers are drinking less, or staying home to smoke.
Realistically, this should cry out for a state by state choice, so we can learn more realistically whether pot really leads to death on the highway, liberal voting, or police state policies.
Isn’t that the conservative choice?
