It just take SOOO long to get there from anywhere.
At least 5hrs from Sacramento if you don't take the scenic route.
If you hit the coast at the Russian River, which is a good distance anyway, you're in for an all day drive.
Quite possibly the prettiest country in the whole world.

Preserving beautiful, easily accessible scenery for us and our descendants. OK by me. Not by me. "Preservation" is perhaps the surest way to wreck that coastal habitat. You should see what it did to Wilder Ranch north of Santa Cruz, now rapidly being overrun by poison hemlock.
