Always choose substance over symbolism. Always.
I presume you are referring to NRTL.
And speaking (ok, writing) in a decidely sarcastic tone.
ObamaCare will turn out to be one of the most expensive vanity projects ever, comparing only to some films that were guaranteed to be flops from the beginning, like Ishtar, Heaven’s Gate, John Carter, and some of Eddie Murphy’s more recent movies.
No doubt that most large companies doing business in America are resigned to progressive control.
Just look at the roster of contributors to Podesta’s CAP.
Money does not mean anything once power is obtained. Money is just the means to achieve power and once it is achieved, it is all about CONTROL - not money.
Dr. Death, Ezekiel Emmanuel Mengele, the ‘architect’ of ObamaCare, just declared last week that Americans “can kiss your insurance company goodbye forever”. He said insurance companies are ‘going to go the way of the dodo bird’ within a year or two.
So there WILL be single payer - with what is left of the insurance companies vying for a position in some Executive bureaucracy that will make health care decisions for you, and for me. The Death Panels and it’s ensuing skyscraper wall of endless red tape bureaucracy.
Single Payer will simply become applied via fascism until the White House simply takes it over in total after it’s been implemented under a ‘temp’ system from former insurance company execs in a newly-crafted bureaucracy.
Think of it as the ‘Imperial Senate’ in Star Wars. Eventually, after it serves the purpose of creating the illusions and smoothing the transition from free market to totalitarianism - the Emperor will simply dissolve the council permanently.
My view of Wash DC is much different from yours.
However I will pass along an investment tip.
If your scenario comes to pass, I’d be shorting insurance companies bigtime.
The GOP’s budget surrender also means that any insurance company that loses money on ObamaCare is entitled to a federal bailout!
Bump. The O-care was designed to crush insurance companies over a number of years. But the stupid central planners forgot to take basic economics courses, and their idiot plan has backfired. I do expect the insurance companies to not let a crisis go to waste.
Yes. DC runs on money.
And insurance companies got more than most.
It's also not clear if the IRS can report non-payment to credit bureaus.
They can't take legal action, of course, but who wants a tax delinquency notice on their credit report?
It's also not clear if the credit agencies or the IRS can dun you, even though they have no legal remedies.
It's like with back-up withholding. Even if you were able to adjust your estimated tax payments to offset back-up withholding, it would still be a hassle, even if you managed to avoid paying the Obamacare penalty.
But is it worth it? He can avoid the hassle if he buys the cheapest Bronze plan, let's say $15,000 for him and Catherine. He can still keep paying out-of-pocket for good healthcare.
The alternative is, fighting the IRS. If he loses, it's 1% of income for 2014 (in Rush's case, that's a six-figure penalty). If he wins, he could still have big legal bills.
If I had Rush's income, I'd buy the Bronze plan. Yes, it's like paying protection money to the mob, and more power to him if he refuses.
I’d agree with you, and I’d also make sure to mention it - often - that I’m paying extortion money to the government.
Actually, I see it as a backdoor victory for Obama.
He’s successfully made law a massive new welfare entitlement. The government pays massive subsidies that someone else gets to pay.
Agree. It was an epic case of fealty to political interests instead of the just application of the law.
We may not have dejure Single Payer, but we have de facto:
free insurance in claims of hardship, low income subsidies, business exemptions, re-imbursement to insurers for losses, minimal penalties and lack of enforcement of individual mandate . . . . etc.
That leaves only the government (us) to pay for health insurance and care for all.
I blame it on 60 demo-rat senators - NOT ONE, I repeat, NOT ONE who could find it in himself to do right for country and not right for party. NOT ONE!
It rather begs the question—if the government cannot competently dictate how insurance companies should operate, then how can it possibly dictate how health care should be delivered?
We already have witnessed for decades the incompetence of government-run healthcare systems in many countries around the world. Why would anyone expect the US to do any better in this regard?
Sensing a loss in the Supreme Court, Obama has killed the onerous law.
The apparatchiks are now busily at work preparing the press releases admonishing the Justices for taking away free health care for all Americans. Obama is blameless, scott free of any responsibility
