Washington, D.C. Nevada Senator Harry Reid released the following statement today after the U.S. Department of Education approved a grant package through the Departments School Improvement Grant (SIG) Program worth $3,725,820 for low performing schools in Nevada.
This is terrific news for Nevada and our public schools, said Senator Reid. This money is vital for our children as we continue to see budget shortfalls throughout school districts across Nevada. This funding will go a long way to ensure more Nevada students have high quality teachers, to help improve instruction, and to help lift up many low-performing schools.
INFORMATION ON THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATIONS SIG PROGRAM
School Improvement Grants (SIG), authorized under section 1003(g) of Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (Title I or ESEA), are grants to State educational agencies (SEAs) that SEAs use to make competitive subgrants to local educational agencies (LEAs) that demonstrate the greatest need for the funds and the strongest commitment to use the funds to provide adequate resources in order to raise substantially the achievement of students in their lowest-performing schools.

Another $4 Million of our tax money down a union rat hole to be funneled to Reid’s campaign...................
Exactly. And some poor fools will thank him as if he took the $4 million out of his own pocket for the grant. Its so wrong.
Pork! Pork! Pork! Reid delivers.
I wonder where this money will really end up.......
In boasting about getting the SIGs for Nevada, Senator Reid was seen strutting across the floor of the Senate shouting “SIG Hail! SIG Hail!”.

Are there $4 million worth of schools in all of Nevada?
There fixed it. You get more of what you reward. It is basic human nature.
Giving more money to poor performing schools is rewarding their failure.
Nevada's unemployment rate is 9 percent.
He’s the king of pork so they already have everything. A free pony for every student!!
His cut is that he bribes his constituents into re-electing him.
Something about a subsidized gun range comes to mind as well.
I wonder where this money will really end up.......
DNC coffers
Rewarding mediocrity at best. More like it paying for the sustenance and continuance of what has not and will not work. Community development block grants are the same. Rewards for sorry doings.
School Improvement Act my skinny white butt. Teacher Enrichment Act is more like it.
