US workers accused fast-food giant McDonald's Thursday of systematically stealing wages through illicit practices like forcing them to work off-the-clock and failing to pay overtime. Seven class-action lawsuits were filed Wednesday and Thursday in California, Michigan and New York demanding that McDonald's pay back the stolen wages and end the practices that violate state and federal laws, lawyers representing the workers said.

It probably wasnt McDonalds but some rogue managers. McDonalds just has the deep pockets.

Yes, you are likely correct. According to the mcdonalds website, only 20% of the outlets are company owned.
if you worked off the clock.....prove it.
Last year I worked an average of 112 hrs a week for 10 straight weeks in the oilfields of the Permian Basin...getting shot at... salary.
Hey, if I don't like it I can quit, right?
Condoning theft isn't Christian and it isn't conservative. It is unconscionable.
You must own a fast food joint...
No, but I've worked in a fast food joint, and I when I felt I was being taken advantage of, I looked for a better job. Nothing like dirtying up your resume and references.
No. But I'd wager that it didn't happen. Just because someone files a lawsuit alleging “wrongdoing” doesn't make it true.
A McD’s franchise is very expensive to obtain and anyone that does have the cash to buy one must also go through extensive business training as well as agree to abide by Corporate, Federal, State and local regulations. It is highly unlikely that a franchisee would jeopardize their investment by engaging in illegal or unethical employment practices.
Fast food workers don't generally work over 8 hours. Most are probably working much less and I guarantee with Obamacare they've probably been working no more than 29 hours a week. Hence, no overtime.
It’s all moot anyway, these clowns will be replaced by robots shortly.
Call me a skeptic but I smell some Alinskyite tactics here. I really hope I'm wrong.
Yeah, despite the outrage expressed in previous comments, I seriously doubt that successful businesses -- in our current regulatory environment -- forced minimum-wage employees to work without being paid.
I'll admit I'm wrong if they actually have proof, but I'm doubtful. This is just more leftist theater.
That's like saying "One way to stop pickpockets is to live where there are no other people around". Most of us prefer to live in a civilized society where everyone, from the lowest laborer to the highest megacorporation, is required to obey the rules.
And what's with the quote marks? They didn't "steal"; they stole by obtaining labor under false pretenses to avoid paying the agreed wage for it.
Indeed. I thought that their endorsement of theft was one of our objections to liberals....
Not paying overtime and forcing workers to work off the clock are illegal in the US.
And we are talking about hourly workers.
A slave driver running a local franchise where my daughter worked tried to do that with her part time high school workers. That ended the first week she tried it.
And after a couple of months my daughter moved on to a better job.
So were you shot at by illegals - or the Feds?
These days a person has to ask. :)
