As West Dithers With Weak Sanctions, Putin Moves On Ukraine
Investor's Business Daily ^ | 14 March 2014 | Editorial

Ukraine: Two weeks after Russian troops covertly slipped into Crimea and took over, the consequences of U.S. passivity are clear: some 80,000 Russian troops amassing on Ukraine's border, three hours from Kiev. It's no surprise that they should be: The lack of leadership seen from the U.S. and the European Union in these lost days has been read as a green light for Russia to make a final grab for Ukraine.

“My fellow Americans, I’m pleased to tell you today that I’ve signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes.” -Reagan 1984 joke to radio technicians.
That leak put the fear of God into our adversaries.

The lack of leadership seen from the U.S. and the European Union

What lack of leadership? They did a pretty bang up job instigating the overthrow of the Ukrainian government which precipitated this whole "crisis".

True dat. They have come up against a giant push back.

Makes you think Egypt. I guess I better also state that in this case, neither side is Pollyanna.

It isn’t passive. Obama is actively committing treason.

After the vote this coming Sunday, somehow the news media will portrait the One as a brilliant foreign policy strategist.

Reagan wouldn’t support Nazis either. I’m amazed that people suddenly think Jihad McCain, EU Ashton, Obama, Kerry, the MSM, and Hillary all suddenly are on the right side of history. All of which would happily support transsexual freaks in the US military as was discussed openly yesterday.
And its downright insane for the west to be lathered up about Russia having too much influence in Crimea. They’ve only been there since George Washington was president.

I’m rootin’ for Putin.

Yes. Totally feckless foreign policy run by absolute idiots who believe that they can do anything that they want because nobody here can or will hold them accountable for anything.
As our great female one said, “what difference does it make?!?”

“That leak put the fear of God into our adversaries.”

Yes it did, and it did it because they were a communist nation then, and we were morally straight.

But now, WE are the revolutionary socialist nation, hell bent on world conquest by anti-freedom forces. We have switched sides to Al Qeida in Syria and Libya. We protect the poppy crops in Afghanistan. We conspire with the EU to spread global warming to consolidate international government power. We overthrew Egypt and scowled when decent Egyptians fought back.
We oppose Israel universally.
We helped Moslems wrestle Kosovo away from Christian Serbia.

We did our best to ruin the Olympics because Putin doesn’t celebrate homosexuality. Our NGOs and USAID were expelled from Russia for organizing opposition parties in Russia.

And we dumped a few billion into the rock and firebomb throwing Nazi opposition that took over Kiev.

Like it or not, we have become the bad guys. Reagan scared them because we were the good guys, standing firm.

The problem with you Americans is you focus on gay marriage, subsidized health care and mortgaging your country to China. Oh and your President is cutting your army to the bone.

And you are threatening Russia over a territory in which you have no business meddling and which is sacred territory to Russia. Moreover, you’re doing this knowing full well you would never spill a drop of American blood for a place historically and still ethnically Russian.

Your leaders have manufactured an international crisis for nothing and Russia will relish their humiliation for its both spiritually and materially bankrupt and has no values to promote - let with alone hard power on hand - military power - that’s its willing to use to show it means business.

Your country’s fall from grace is not Russia’s problem. If America cannot address the consequences of its own decline, no one will respect it. And quite frankly - save your temper tantrums and your bullying - it does not make your argument stronger or make others live in fear of you. That time has passed.

All the President has to do is ANNOUNCE that we are going to start filling the Atlantic sea lanes with LNG ships and Russia will calm down immediately.

I’m being rhetorical! But if you look at how we’re seen by others, we do have a serious problem.

We’re like the 98 pound kid in the famous Charles Atlas cartoon. Why are the Russians getting away with it? Because they can.

Blaming them doesn’t begin to address our weakness. President Reagan didn’t blame the Kremlin; he did something about it. But that’s where the comparison between him and President Obama ends.
