Obama’s Orwellian View Of Freedom

Liberty: President Obama wants Democrats to reclaim the word "freedom" as their own. But what he describes as freedom is little more than deeper dependence on government. Not exactly what the Founders had in mind.

In a recent speech to the Democratic National Committee, the president lamented that "we've let the other side define the word 'freedom' for too long." Then, as he often does, Obama set up a straw man argument, claiming to Republicans freedom means "what's in it for me?" or "I've got no obligations to anybody."

So what is "freedom," Mr. Obama?

Slavery equals Freedom /Orwell and Obama

The Marxists see 1984 as a plan, not a cautionary tale.

So according to Obama, freedom means one can take financial risks without having to suffer the consequences if it doesn’t work out. However, the flip side of that coin would be if the risk pays off well, the profit must be taken away to redistribute to the others, making it a zero sum operation.

You can’t limit a man’s potential for failure without also limiting his potential for success.

Republicans can't let Obama get away with twisting this precious word to suit his Big Brother agenda.

Democrats took the 'changing the meaning of words' thing from the Communists in the 50's. Back then it seemed like every communist front organization was called something like "Freedom and Apple Pie" organization.

Democrats still tell their shills and liars to assume patriotic sounding names to use on the internet.

Twisted meanings is where the term 'extremist' came into play - first dems uses it on radical muslims and then slowly moved it over to political enemies.

We're dealing with people who know what they're doing - and that's folks a lot smarter than Obama's pay level.

I wonder if Putin will 'give' Obama the 'win' in Ukraine? The US is a bigger plum... Probably not... but this type of thinking isn't 'obama'...it's higher up.

The way those clowns give speeches touting how great life is these days is nothing short of Orwellian. The way editorial writers in the big press and the broadcast news organizations parrot them is Orwellian.

When you say something that is 180 degrees away from what people experience, and you get support for saying it, it makes 1984 seem pretty tame.

Hey, Obama told Putin that he could be more “flexible”
after the election, I guess Putin is trying him out.

The Massachusetts Constitution of 1780 . . .

The resulting constitution, drafted during war, was regarded as the best of the thirteen.

Despite its strengths, there were minor and major civil disturbances that culminated in Shays' rebellion.

Both the state and confederation governments were so weak, that private funds were borrowed to raise troops.

Shays didn't hurt the rising sense that real government, and not an association of independent countries was needed.
