NASHUA, N.H. (AP) — In a move cheered by Republicans nationwide, former Massachusetts U.S. Sen. Scott Brown on Friday declared he wants to "stop complaining and get involved again" by formally joining the race against Democratic U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen. The longtime Massachusetts resident, who recently moved into his seacoast New Hampshire vacation home, launched an exploratory committee to enter the Senate race during a Republican conference in Nashua, ending months of speculation about his intentions.
While Brown has yet to file formal candidacy papers, his decision all but assures the GOP will have a top-tier contender who, win or lose come November, helps his party's national push to claim the Senate majority — a shift that could fundamentally reshape the final two years of President Barack Obama's presidency.
Underscoring the significance of Brown's move, the Washington-based Republican ally American Crossroads immediately announced plans to invest $650,000 in a television advertising campaign against Shaheen beginning next week. Strategists on both sides said the contest could quickly become the most expensive in state history.
Brown, facing a packed hotel ballroom Friday evening, said his wife told him he should run for the U.S. Senate in New Hampshire if he really wants to make a difference.
"Honey, you are right," he said just before the crowd gave him a standing ovation. "I'm going to stop complaining and get involved again."

I would prefer a real Republican but I suppose they don’t exist in New England.
I recall chatting with Brown before he became a RINO Senator, and believe he is a chameleon conservative. In the Senate, he followed McPain. He thought that if he could balance on the fence, he’d win a full term. But, if there were to be a much more conservative GOP-TP senate, I think he would change colors, and shift more my liking.
He is not a conservative in his core by any stretch, but a backbencher.
Timing is everything Scott. With the Russian problem on Monday and THE PLANE “incident” — he could’ve waited a bit to announce ‘til things calm down. But, good luck anyway.

In places like NH and MA a Brown style Republican is ok (I said OK as in acceptable) since he’s at least a vote against OBAMACARE, but for places like AZ and SC well.. We can do better!
But he only gets 39%.
I think Christie could have tricked conservatives if he picked LePage as VP.
Scott Brown needs to come out and say: “Im no RINO, you want to see a RINO, look at Kelly Ayotte’s vote to create 12 million Democrats”.
I’d say Scott Brown in the long term is a more pro gun Senator than Ayotte. 12 million new Democrats mean gun control.
Scott Brown is good on amnesty compared to Ayotte or Rand Paul.
I hope Bob Smith and Scott Brown expose RINO Ayotte.

Cheered by Republicans nationwide, or cheered by non-conservative Republicans nationwide? Most conservatives are disappointed with Scott Brown, and they should be, for many reasons. The MSM is playing nice with another RINO.
Where’s the fool-proof “end game” for RINO Republicanism? I would like to see such info as well as ask why it has been hidden for so long. The problem with accepting any and all RINO Republicanism anywhere it exists is that there isn’t any plan(s) in place for ending its existence and then, successfully and finally, replacing RINO Republicanism with actual, long-term conservatism, instead.
He must be awfully lonesome.

I was really excited when he ran for the Kennedy seat in MA..now I could care less what he does...just another professional politician who looks out for himself..after he arrived in Congress, he was a total disappointment..

I’m not thrilled but Shaheen was gonna get a pass otherwise thanks to the pathetic state of the NH GOP.
Ayotte (NH) is as good as it currently is in New England. The only other Senator is Collins, the most liberal Republican in Congress. Since we lost the NH House seats in 2012 (after just taking them back in 2010) there are no GOP Representatives at all.
I’m hoping at the very least that Frank Gunita can reclaim NH-1 this year.

Totally disagree. While it's true that Brown's record was "conservative" by Massachuttes standards, the same is NOT true by New Hampshire standards. Brown is to the LEFT of most Republicans that won elective office statewide in N.H. over the past dozen years or so (Craig Benson, Judd Gregg, John Sununu Jr., etc.), including "moderate" Republicans. The political ideology of the two states is totally different (for example, N.H. voted for Bush in 2000, whereas Massachuttes would have probably STILL voted for Gore if Jesus himself was Gore's opponent) It's disingenuous to put them in the same category because they're in the same region of the country. It's like saying "I would prefer a real GOP governor in Utah, but after all, the western states elected Arnold Schwarzenegger and that's the best we can get out there"

Also disagree. Yes, Brown is "more conservative" than Ayotte on immigration. However, he is to her LEFT on virtually everything else.

I'm not getting my hopes up, but that would be refreshing if he moves right once he represents New Hampshire. It would also be the decent thing to do, and put him in sync with the Republicans there who nominated him.
