White House orders broader Obamacare health plans in 2015
Washington Post ^ | March 14, 2014 | BY JASON MILLMAN

The Obama administration is requiring health plans in Obamacare insurance marketplaces to include a more robust offering of care providers in 2015 after some early backlash over limited networks in the health care law's first year.

Health plans selling on the federal marketplaces in 2015 must include 30 percent of area "essential community providers," which are usually health centers and other hospitals serving mostly low-income patients. That's up from a 20 percent requirement in 2014, the first year of expanded overage under the health care law.

The federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which oversees the marketplaces, will also take a much more active role in reviewing health plan networks. CMS, which outlined the new standards in a Friday night letter to insurers, will evaluate whether the plans include enough access to hospitals, primary care doctors, mental health providers and oncologists. The updated standards came after a Friday interview in which President Barack Obama acknowledged that pressure to keep down costs could mean consumers may not have access to their choice of doctor.

In a perfect world, Obama would be impeached and then removed from office and indicted. Biden would have to do a Ford and pardon Obama and Biden would be doomed as well.
Obama isn’t going to be impeached because the GOPe don’t want to do any hard work. Bohner and his ilk are quite happy just being fed scraps from Obamas table. Yellow thru and thru.

I guess the written law continues to be ignored, and the legislative branch is now moot.

When did we repeal Article I of the Constitution?

Bueller? Bueller?

So what are they going to do? Force doctors to participate at the point of a gun?

So we're going to do what? We're subsidizing the poor, subsidizing the hospitals, subsidizing the doctors....

Time for price controls.

We need to remember, this isn’t about health INSURANCE, but health CARE.

In the future : “Due to the unforeseen shortage of Doctors willing to treat the least of these [subtle Biblical reference], I have enacted the Medical Provider Education Act which will provide free college and medical education, and upon completion of their education, they will be required to serve in their communities as doctors, nurses, etc. Much in the same way that our military school graduates gain their education and serve their country.”

Impeachment, followed by what?
A vacation of course! Charlie Rangel was sensured and anyone else would be embarrssed with just that but his arrogance ruled the day and he continued and was re elected. NJ mayor Marion Barry was caught on tape smoking crack in a whore house and got re elected. It doesnt mean a thing and because black is the new tephlon is all the more reason to believe that NOTHING WILL HAPPEN! Mandella was praised in the media as a hero a patriotic fighter and all he really was is a murdering commie. nuff sed

I have an 82 Mouton which will be fine for me.

Meanwhile, besides throwing our combined fists in the air, what are we going to do about this?

Impeachment. Way over due.

This is a familiar refrain on Free Republic, but as long as the Senate is controlled by Democrats it would be an exercise in futility. You should know that.

If the Senate switches this year, then it would be a realistic thing to advocate.

You know, I am beginning to suspect that most to almost all Freepers have no idea that impeachment is carried out by the House and the trial must take place in the Senate.

“Impeachment. Way over due.”

Okay but we don’t have the votes to do it in Congress.

Correction. We don't have the BALLS to do it in Congress.

To offer an attractive price, the insurers cut back on doctors, hospitals, sources for pharmaceuticals etc. It's been that way since the advent of HMOs. So, people are signing up for plans that don't cover good choices for themselves, as insurance companies keep everything as centralized and under-their-thumb as possible.

The real solution is for the feds to get out of insurance and health care. But since Obama plans to stay and the HOR won't cut funding of it, something has to be done about access. Oftentimes, people can't get medical care anywhere near where they live.

The answer is a choice of pay-as-able (with some required minimum) clinics people can get to for bare bones medical treatment.

Make them an offer they can’t refuse. Pay off their student loans in exchange for service in sh*tty areas of the country where no one else wants to live.

This would seem to hand a big negotiating advantage to providers.

This is a familiar refrain on Free Republic.....

::::::::

And yes, I know that. But what too many miss, is that those in the Congress who can make a lot of noise, give the various impeachable offenses more visibility to wake up those in the electorate who live in a cloud of ignorance — should be happening. It is happening now..the issues are finally being made visible by GOP members.

Again, regardless of immediate outcome, all these issues need to be shouted to the heavens, made very visible.

“MRI overseas=$500
MRI USA=$5000

Why are we paying 5x as much for the same pics?”

Not a simple answer. First, the number of MRI scanners per capita in those overseas locations is much less - thus the cost outlay for purchase and upkeep of the scanners per capita is much less. The flip side of that is long waiting times and rationing.

Second, a lot of medical device, imaging equipment, surgical supplies, and pharmaceutical companies get gouged by foreign governments - and stay profitable by what they make in US markets. In that manner, our medical system has been subsidizing medical costs around the world.

Third, hospital systems lose money on lots of things, like medicare and medicaid patients, and they pass these losses on to other patients in a variety of ways - such as ramping up the costs of MRIs etc.

There's a lot more involved, including an increasing amount of administrative costs in the US, and costs of legal protection, but suffice it to say it's not a simple case of over the top profits.
