North Dakota and its only abortion clinic have resolved part of their dispute over the states new abortion law, meaning the facility will remain open.
At issue was the requirement that physicians performing abortions have hospital privileges. The state and clinic agreed that doctors at the Red River Women's Clinic would maintain such privileges.
The agreement was announced Friday by the state and the Center for Reproductive Rights, which assisted the clinic, located in Fargo. The stipulation ends a lawsuit over the requirement, which was included in the 2013 law and threatened to close the womens health facility.
The hospital privilege requirement has been pushed by abortion opponents who say it helps increase the quality of care women receive. Those supporting abortion rights say such laws are a way of restricting the availability of abortions, particularly in underserved rural areas, and that the privileges are unnecessary to ensure safety.
There have been battles over the requirement in Texas, where two more clinics closed this month primarily because of the privileges issue. Similar fights are brewing in other states, including Louisiana.

Watch out for an earthquake or something else, North Dakota. . . .
If the unborn could tithe or make political contributions, they’d have a lot more defenders.

Very true.
I have often stated that it is too bad that the real PUSHERS of abortion etc didn’t/don’t have parents that felt the same way.
The left supports filthy back alley abortionists
but isn’t this the law of the land? /liberal hypocrisy
Nah, that principle only applies to THEIR laws!
Bad news.
Good news, actually.
This “hospital privileges” gambit successfully shut down many abortuaries. Nobody expected it to shut them all down, but it proves that they can be forced to close.
So ... this was a good first step, and it worked.
Next step? Not sure, but if we pick a good one we’ll get even more of these demonic killing centers eliminated.
Anything that keeps an abortuary open is bad news.
I’m looking at the whole picture ... We have gotten a lot of abortuaries closed with this method. That’s good news.
Now ... on to the next thing.
So how do you get this one closed? You’ve just enabled it to stay open.
Anything that enables an abortuary to stay open is a bad thing.
