Janitor in fatal shooting of two Milwaukee teens has gun permit

The attorney for a maintenance worker who fatally shot two teens police say were attacking him with a baseball bat Wednesday said his client carried a gun because of the nature and location of his work, but is not a gun rights activist or even a hunter.

"He considers it an occupational necessity" to carry a gun and has a permit to do so, the lawyer, David Geraghty, said Friday. He represents Jeremy Rossetto, 39, of Cudahy, who was released from jail Friday after initially being arrested on possible homicide charges after the incident.

Prosecutors ordered Rossetto released without bail, but they will continue investigating the circumstances and don't expect a decision soon on whether Rossetto will face formal charges.

"We feel pretty confident it was self-defense," Geraghty said.

Police say Anmarie Miller, 17, and James Bell Jr., 19, both of Milwaukee, were killed. Rossetto and a 20-year-old man who was with the teens, Clarence Alls, were arrested. Rossetto was treated for injuries he suffered in the attack. Alls was also released from jail Friday, prosecutors said, without being charged.

Glad to see this trending in the right way for the victim, but why is Alls walking around?

Thought I'd add this bit of info.

Police name teens killed in double shooting

MILWAUKEE - A peaceful hymn echoes as dozens gather at 27th and Vliet. Friends and family of 17-year-old Anmarie Miller reflect.

"Just want to know some answer," says David Guerro, Miller's cousin. "Really sad, 17 years old, a bright future."

And those of 19-year-old James Bell are still in shock.

"I loved them with all of me, and it hurts dearly," says Devonte Coleman, friends with Bell.

Exactly why Bell, Miller, and Clarence Alls came to this apartment is unclear.

"We haven't been able to get the story from the detectives as to what the story really is," John Reed, Miller's cousin, explains. "So as of now we're in the dark."

Police say once inside the hallway, they had a violent interaction with the maintenance man. Our police sources confirm words were exchanged, and then a fight started.

Sources say Bell put the worker in a bear hug and started to choke him. Miller grabbed a small baseball bat and started to hit the worker. Police say Alls punched him, as well.

That's when sources say the man removed a .40 caliber gun from his holster and shot Bell, then Miller, in the chest, killing them both.

Miller leaves behind two young children, including one with Bell. Her family insists this wasn't in her character.

"You can't call her an animal," Reed says. "You can't call her a ghetto this and that. It's not what she deserves."

As the DA determines whether the worker acted in self defense, family and friends hold back tears. But they tell us, they will accept the facts, even if their deaths are justified.

"Whatever the truth is, as a family, we will accept that," says Reed.

So, let's see... It was a small baseball bat...

"Really sad, 17 years old, a bright future."

Had 2 kids at 17, one with the dead thug, a bright future? Not so much.

Well, at least the article didn’t say they were aspiring artists or had promising futures.

Oops. Didn’t see your post. So I guess they DID have a bright future, then.

I spread earlier that there are two videos of the beating and defensive shooting. That should clear up any questions real quick.

"... Miller grabbed a small baseball bat..."

I was wondering how they had a baseball bat "handy"...probably a fungo bat they carried around all the time.

Hmm... The only logical explanation I can come up with is either the gun jammed, or the magazine was emptied. Either way, I suspect the usual crowd of race card players are headed there as we speak.

More “gun violence” and more “teens killed by guns”. We could have nothing worse than baseball bat violence and a dead adult if we had the right gun laws - and liberals would have preferred that outcome.

My Dad moved us OUT of that hellhole in 1970. I thank him quite often!

However, I’m now living 10 miles south of ‘The People’s Republik of Madistan’ we’re getting the same problems here, decades later. If you build it, they WILL come!

Socialism is a CANCER that destroys everything it touches.

Using media news/speak; are there pictures of the victims and the gunman?

I’d imagine the muzzle flash of a .40 is as bright as the sun when it’s at point blank range and pointed in your direction.

Honesty is in short supply in some communities. It is hard to imagine how you can fix the problems that led to this shooting. Each successive generation sinks lower as the liberal state takes its toll.

Maybe it is time for you to follow in your dads footsteps and move your family?
