South Carolina Republicans like former Florida governor John E. “Jeb” Bush for president, while continuing to support Sen. Lindsey O. Graham for re-nomination against a host of conservative challengers.
“Jeb Bush shows strength across many of the poll’s crosstabs and was the choice of 22 percent of the respondents compared to his 16 percent in our November poll,” said Doug Kaplan, the president of Gravis Marketing, the Florida-based polling company.
“In the GOP Senate primary survey, Graham polled 60 percent against the field compared to his 54 percent in our November poll,” he said. In the case that no candidate receives more than 50 percent in the June 10 primary, the two top vote getters run in a runoff primary.
Jackie Bodnar, a spokeswoman for Freedom Works said the field of challengers is still taking shape and shaking out. “The filing deadline is not until the end of the month, and I think that’s where you’re going to see a lot of the grassroots start to unify around a single challenger. Unity is going to be key in taking on an entrenched Beltway operator like Lindsey Graham.”
After Graham, respondents chose state Sen. Bright Lee, 10 percent; liberal operative Nancy R. Mace, 7 percent; Richard Cash, 4 percent and lawyer and Afghanistan War veteran Bill Connor, 2 percent.
“These findings really stretch credulity,” Bright said. “There’s not a group of Republicans outside of the Senate dining room where Lindsey Graham is in the 60s.”

The importance of 2014 is absolutely nothing compared to 2016.
I’d say 66%-75% are RINOs. Most will vote for anyone that’s not a (D) that gopE puts up. Sure they’ll talk big about smaller government, social issues, etc. but when push comes to shove, forget it, they get right in line. Unfortunately, that’s how we end up with Graham, McCain, etc.
just setting the stage so when the power elite put them back in office it provides the public a plausible view for their victory.
There’s a reason the “Corridor of Shame” runs through SC.
In Texas, Dewhurst would be in the senate if a strong opponent had not challenged. And you are talking about challenging the Bush promoters supporting Dewhurst.
It takes a lot more than loathing. No one won against Cornyn in the primary, no one was strong.
We cant just make someone be a challenger. The challengers running against Cornyn could have turned out to be Scott Browns, Paul Ryans.
Geeze, look at what’s happening with Rand Paul. people want him to stop altering his positions. But that’s who he is. Why do they want him to be president? He has no loyalty, no position. He attacks conservatives as well as any Romney or McConnel can.
People think its easy to get ted Cruz in there. It is not. Look at his academic record. People like him don’t just come up and challenge Lindsey Graham out of nowhere. There could be someone, just the way it happened in Kentucky, but he’d have to be willing to put up with all the crap Ted Cruz is going to have to put up with and we have seen nothing of that yet.
Lindsey will hang on. but if it’s a majority in the Senate GOP, Graham is not going to find much to do. He, McCain and the other obstructors may be out. They have a lot of C of C money (that’s probably who they work for). They’re still not going to want to do their jobs. BUt the base, which is considerable, and, as yet, for a long time, unrepresented, will be supporting those who are in there to do their jobs. I think they’ll be in the majority, with the House back in conservative hands. Boner will be out.
Just a best conditions guess.
Jeb Bush has the best matchup against Clinton, only trailing by 3. He is quite popular amongst Republicans.

Y’all need to stop beating up on us South Carolinians. We’re not marching in lockstep here. Hell, back in 2008 I voted for a Democrat rather than Lindsey to try and get his swishy tail out of office. 2 reasons for that painful vote:
1. Lindsey surgically attached his face to McLame’s posterior. What a sickening display of sycophancy.
2. Lindsey started his amnesty kick after huddling with Hitlery a couple of years prior to the 2008 election. I knew even before he went rabid on letting illegals in (in the case of SC, it was Mexicans) that the Cankled Empress had promised him a neverending stream of suddenly legal voters if he let them in, cementing his power in SC.
Today, the problem is that transplants and young’uns don’t remember or don’t care what Lindsey did or said about amnesty.
Lindsey’s still worried about us old coots with long memories and grudges, though. He’s been running an ad campaign smothering the radio and TV airwaves with his effeminate, prissy boasting much earlier than he’s ever done before. AND, he’s talking about everything BUT “immigration reform” - none of his ads come anywhere near mentioning it.
Hopefully one or two of the primary challengers are waiting for the opportune time to spring a trap on Lindsey, so he’ll waste most of his money on the current ad blitz and won’t be able to strike back effectively. At least that’s what I hope.
And yes, Human Events is not a trustworthy source of anything other than Democrat dreams and wishes.

I keep in contact with a number of people I’ve met over the years in the party and Jeb is definitely on the “backup” guy...he’s a huge moneyraiser and has definite establishment backing and it would only take a short time to fire up his campaign.
As for me, I’m sticking with the Rand Paul train...

Yes, lots of NE people moved here, but many of the were the Conservative ones leaving their states for greener pastures!!
Give me a break, I live in SC. Nobody I know wants Jeb Bush...I really wonder about these polls...prob conducted at a local Dem gathering.
