A SCOTUS 'fix' in the works?: Liberals are pressuring Justices Ginsburg and Breyer to retire

Democrats should be rooting for an audience of two to be similarly over-interpreting the results [of the FL 13 special election]: Supreme Court Justices Stephen Breyer and Ruth Bader Ginsburg. If the justices previously believed it a safe bet that they would be replaced by mainstream liberal justices when they retire, perhaps now they'll realize their only reasonable course of action is to

They really want this before they lose the senate.

I think unless all the winners on our side are Tea Party type conservatives, Bitch McConnell would approve anyone Barrycades puts up.

I believe that too many Democrats from red states have to stand for election this year to make this a viable option. Will they be willing to commit political suicide in order to confirm a liberal justice? Doubtful. A lame duck strategy may be more likely, but the Republicans could probably delay a vote in that scenario.

Deval Patrick will need something to do now that he's not going to be governor of Massatwosits (Obamaspeak). Obama would nominate him because he's a moonbat's moonbat.

I could see Obama nominating himself with 3 months left in his term. Mitchey would be afraid to be called racist by refusing to let him have the lateral move.

Let the moslem illegal alien ENEMY COMBATANT appoint whoever he wants to the Supreme Court.

He can appoint SpongeBob Squarepants for all I care.

Once he’s revealed as having 7 SSNs, forged Hawaii birth certificate, and ISN’T A CITIZEN of any type, all his actions will be null and void.

Hopefully Breyer’s and Ginsburg’s sense of self importance will cause them to disregard this pressure from liberals. Why should they put an end to their brilliant careers just to allow some no name replacement get in there.

If the Democrats lose the Senate in November, Obama can still pick almost anyone, as long as he or she is a minority, and get that person confirmed.

I've always thought that Thurgood Marshall retired when he did because he assumed President Bush would be re-elected, because of his extremely high approval ratings right after the Gulf War. If he had stayed on until his death, Clinton would have replaced him with a black liberal. Instead, Clarence Thomas got the seat.

If the Pubbies DO NOT stop this dead in its tracks, we’re dead.

Let the SCOTUS work short-handed until 2014.

I don’t know about Breyer, but the rumor is that Ginsburg plans to stay in office until she dies, unless she can be replaced by a Republican. This is because she is very afraid of who Obama might appoint to her seat.

Specifically, that he will appoint a justice who is antisemitic and anti-Israel. She has a pretty good idea of who the candidates might be who would replace her, and she doesn’t like them.

Why do you scare me like that. While I would be thrilled to get him out of Mass, unleashing his ilk on the country is just not fair.

You're kidding, right?

Do you know how many Republicans voted against Ginsburg?

If Ruth Bader Ginsberg retires, Obama will have to replace her with another feminist extremist, or risk the wrath of the Democrats’ feminist-extremist wing.

Such women routinely believe that the right to abortion should not end with the birth of a baby, and they also tend to be extremely outspoken — a combination of characteristics not ideal for a successful confirmation hearing. So unless a potential Supreme Court nominee exists who’s both an extreme feminist and at the same time a shrinking violet, Obama and the Democrats would be better off if Ruth Bader Ginsburg remains on the bench.

As for Justice Breyer, could his retirement fail to set off a full-scale campaign by the powerful LGBT lobby for Obama to nominate America’s first openly gay Supreme Court justice? Obama should be urging Justice Breyer to remain with Justice Ginsberg on the bench, even if they’re so old they can’t keep from drooling all over it.

Easiest job in the world. Figures out what the liberal result is, votes for that, has another justice write the opinion, goes out and makes speeches and collects lots of dough. He would love it. Naming himself UN General Secretary, that might be tougher.
