I care a lot more about what medical science has to say than "social acceptance." The bottom line is that alcohol addiction is as damaging as addiction to many illicit drugs, if not more so, so the double-standard on the issue reflects raw emotion (as evidenced by your childish ALL CAPS) rather than reason or facts.
