The fact is, like it or not, the Tea Party is the soul of the Republican Party.
There is no better example of the need to have the Tea Party continue its cleansing of the U.S. Senate than the looming primary in Mississippi. Thad Cochran (R-Miss), 76, has been the leading pork dispenser on the Republican side of the aisle for decades.
He once vied for the honor with Alaskas Ted Stevens; now he has it all to himself. Silent on major national issues, rarely heard from in the Senate, he stands as an apostle of the old ways, pursuing increased government spending with all the vigor of a Robert Byrd (D-W.Va.) or Scoop Jackson (D-Wash.) of a bygone era. Without a scorecard, you couldnt tell which of these old-fashioned senators is a Democrat or a Republican, a liberal or a conservative.
We will not return to national power by electing faceless, nameless Republican senators who do not stand up and never fight hard.
The passivity of the Republican minority in the Senate is the stuff of legend. But the Tea Party members have changed all that and deserve our thanks and commendation.
Sometimes, the amateurs of the Tea Party lead us astray. No one can deny that Missouri, Indiana and Delaware would be represented by Republicans had the Tea Party not nominated candidates who made themselves unelectable. And it is probable that we would have won seats in Nevada and Colorado as well but for Tea Party primary victories.
But a lifeless, soulless GOP would be no inspiration to anyone.
Rubio, Cruz, Paul, Johnson, Lee: These names light up our sky and animate our party. Where would we be without their star power?

Whether the GOP wants to admit it or not the Tea Party is cleaning house.
When the Tea Party controls the Republican convention, I will agree.
“When the Tea Party controls the Republican convention, I will agree.”
The current “housecleaning” is the precursor to controlling the convention. We simply have to continue to remove the old guard Pubbies like Cochran.
The old and feeble broken down rino’s who sold thier a##es to the rats for a piece of the pie at the cost of the American middleclass will be put to pasture hopefully come 2014 and 16
Hmmm...Dick Morris sucking up to regain some lost credibility?
I wish all success. Bring bleach and boiling water, in abundance.
I most strongly disagree with Mr. Morris!
Missouri, Indiana, Delaware, Nevada and Colorado would be represented by Republican Senators if the GOP establishment had helped the Primary contest winners in those states in the General election!
Instead, lead by the Republican Traitor-in-Chief Karl Rove, they actively campaigned against them.
GOP establishment can kiss my ass for not supporting Republican Primary winners!
*SMACK*
Mitch just got Bitch Slapped.
Missouri's Akin wasn't the tea party choice, he was Michelel Bachmann's and Huckabee's.
I think that after looking at Delaware, it was conceded that Castle would not have won, and in Nevada Palin didn't endorse Angle.
We had a history making victory in 2010, largely because of the tea party, yet the GOPe is recreating it as a loss caused by the tea party.
Rock on Dick For once you are right on the money. We have to rid ourselves of these RINO’s. And soon.
And there is the difference between the Rats and Pubbies.
No matter what mistakes a Rat makes; the party stands behind their candidate. Having the support of the MSM helps.
I agree with most everything Dick Morris says here. Looking at the manner in which he writes this article, I can imagine this piece being spoken aloud as a speech in front of an audience. There’s something about the way he’s patterned his topics.
A lot of worst case scenario allusions followed by laudatory lines describing present solutions. Morris is a good writer to study. Even though he’s ‘no Jeanne Dixon’ in his predictions (sigh!) I like seeing Dick on Fox once in a while, because his effervescence cheers me up.
We will never get anywhere with John Boehner and Mitch McConnell leading us in congress. Both are compromised individuals with skeletons to hide and no doubt the Dems know this and threaten to expose them if they try to get bold against them. I think this explains their feeble and lax efforts to propose counter legislation against a Democratic Party who are a bunch of sitting ducks about to get hammered. We all know if it was the other way around and it was the GOP in the crosshairs Reid and Pelosi would have no mercy and throw everything and the kitchen sink at the Republicans in congress.
Wow, Dick Morris is right on the money here.
The GOP, along with the nation, lost its soul years ago.
That man’s name keeps coming up in circles...(Grover Norquist)
