BIRMINGHAM, Ala. An Alabama police chief is under fire from a prominent atheist activist organization for conducting prayer walks in his city as a way to fight crime.
The Madison, Wisconsin-based Freedom from Religion Foundation (FFRF) recently sent a letter to Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper to assert that his actions are unconstitutional and offensive to non-Christians.
Roper, an ordained minister, is involved with the initiative Prayer Force United, a coalition between the chief, area churches and local residents to host monthly prayer walks and faith-based gatherings in areas of Birmingham that are most affected by crime.
We understand that a police cruiser leads these prayer walks with lights flashing, followed by a truck with a sound system that cranks up some gospel music, the letter from FFRF outlined. At the end, a worship team [is] going full bore, just praising Jesus. Then the local pastor introduces the police chief, and you then give a sermon invoking Jesus several times.

So the good people of Alabama don’t mind, but those folks in Wisconsin would rather have crime in Alabama than a bit of Jesus!?!
Send the crime to Wisconsin!

Try pointing out to an atheist that the belief in the nonexistence of a deity is a faith-based belief system; just as the belief in a deity is. They like to think that their beliefs are “science-based”; and they don't like it when someone points out that there is no scientific proof nor disproof of the existence of a deity. The usual reaction (best case) is to play word games; which essentially attempt to redefine “atheism” as “agnosticism”.

Could be. Everyone on their board has very white skin.

Just what did Jesus ever do to them? Love them.
This country is more insane by the minute. I guess these atheists don’t realize just Who is in charge of their next breath.

I should take this opportunity to amend my previous post a bit. There is indeed no scientific way to prove there is no Deity. However, if a Deity chooses to reveal himself (or herself) that would be one way of disproving the atheist's assertion that there is no Deity. E.g. Jesus walking on water disproved the null hypothesis (there is no Diety). IOW, Christians have a lot more “science” on their side, than atheists have.

Hope Chief Roper tells them to kiss off. We have got to stop legitimizing these jerks by taking them seriously.
