A lot of the time, there are no "solutions" (all good effect, no bad effects), only trade-offs (a positive impact here creates a negative impact there).
If bans against child marriage became rigorously enforced there, do you really think girls would uniformly be treated better?
Here is the reality. In these Islamic countries the Koran and Islam rule. The Koran tells these people its OK to marry off young girls to adult men. Men take advantage of it. Its a perverse sick culture.There is nothing good about it. There is no redeeming value of this society whatsoever. None. You cannot name one thing. It has nothing to do with trying to make sure everyone gets fed. Its legal pedophilia.
Its not going to change either because the Theology of Islam rules the lives of all of these arabs. Its just worse in some countries than others but it goes on everywhere. Iraq is now changing its law so that 6-8 year olds can be married.
There is nothing to be done about it but at least we all need to be honest and call it what it is.
