The United States delivered 100 Hellfire missiles, along with assault rifles and ammunition to Iraq as part of its anti-terrorism assistance to the country, the U.S. embassy to Iraq said on Sunday.
In a statement, it said the delivery was made earlier this month in order to help bolster Iraq forces fighting a breakaway al-Qaida group known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.
"It is essential that Iraqi Security Forces are equipped with modern and effective weaponry given the serious threat... the ISIL now poses to Iraq and the region," said the statement, which also promised to send more weapons to Iraq in the coming weeks.
It added that since mid-January, Iraqi security forces had received more than eleven million rounds of ammunition, as well as thousands of machine guns, sniper rifles, assault rifles, and grenades.

This is a section of the world where there are no good guys. My problem is that I believe our own government is living in some stoned fantasy world where they can appease one side and not get beheaded by it. Can we trust the same people in our government who backed the father of the current Islamism movement, the Muslim Brotherhood, as...moderates?

Went to Walmart yesterday. The shelves behind the counter looked well stocked with ammo. The salesclerk arrived and informed me "No .22".
I don’t get this .22lr shortage, I’m a member of a gun club in the UK of all places, and supply here is plentiful.
Just hand them the keys to the WH. Oh, wait, never mind, we have and this said in all seriousness.

I went to a gun show a few weeks back and they had .22lr but it was $.20 to $.25 a round which I think is about .12 to .15 in your money.

Yes, by all means, go ahead and arm the Islamist groups. That’s such a wise decision. I’m sure that Little Lindsey Graham and Juan McCain will be tickled pink.

The missiles and rifles will soon be returned to the US; they’ll be used in New York, Washington, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Chicago, St. Louis, Houston, Phoenix, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
