SIMFEROPOL, March 17, 0:52 /ITAR-TASS/. Upon the processing of 50% ballots cast Sunday in a referendum on Crimea’s future, a total of 95.5% voters who had come to the polling stations said ‘yes’ to the reunification of their region with Russia, Mikhail Malyshev, a person in charge of the referendum commission at the Crimean legislature said.
Another 3.5% voters said ‘yes’ to Crimea’s continued stay within Ukraine. Invalidated ballots made up 1% of the total. Malyshev said that the data did not feature the results of voting in Sevastopol.
The ballots in Sunday’s referendum contained two questions: 1) Are you in favor of Crimea's reunification with Russia in the status of a constituent territory of the Russian Federation and 2) Are you in favor of restoring the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Crimea and its status of an integral part of Ukraine.
As many as 1,534,815 people of Crimea and 309,774 people in the city of Sevastopol had the right to vote in the referendum.
As many as 27 territorial election committees and 1,239 polling stations, including 192 polling stations in the city of Sevastopol were set up for the event.
The expenditures for the referendum were covered from the autonomy’s budget. Referendum’s organizational costs stood at 1.7 million U.S. dollars.

Well it’s hard not to trust Putin, who was so beloved in Chechnya that he got a resounding 99.8% of the vote only two years ago.
I just can’t understand how our politicians, from both sides, say the vote in Crimea is invalid while at the same time saying a group of protestors changing the government in the Ukraine is valid without a vote.
Get your backside out of the free world and over to Putin’s Gulag if you don’t like it here. Your bare-chested Pootie will protect you from the gays who you are so afraid of.
Now let’s have the vote without Russian troops in the country.

This vote is redundant. Crimea has already been annexed by the New Russian Empire. Tsar Vladimir's vote is the only one that matters.
The political stances of Russia and the EU are NOT the reason I am pro-Russia on this one. My decision is based on what is right and just - the political stances are a mere side benefit.
The presidency of Yanukovych was a sham. The Ukrainian freedom fighters were removing a corrupt leader and his toadies. Good for them.

Believe it or not my mom just explained this to me. Seems the Russians have flooded the area with Russians and the original people are outnumbered and afraid to vote.

What is right and just always depends on who's talking.
How about against Obunga, Soros, John Iscariot McCain, Hillary KKKlintler, Victoria Nuland, Weasily Clark and the whole fricking lot of them. The choice here is fairly simple, believe that all of those idiots are good people or believe that Putin is right. Putin is the main actor responsible for stopping the global warming scam in 04, and appears to be on the right side of most things.

Perhaps you forgot the /sarc tag? This has absolutely nothing to do with Russia, Ukraine and Crimea with respect to political allegiances or the "will of the people" TM.
What it's really about is to further mask & distort the cause of US/NATO encroachment around Russia. And that, my FRiend, is in order to eventually obtain Russian resources.
Now, whether that objective is achieved via sanctions, with the hope of economic collapse, or via increased military engagements - initially on the periphery - is probably of no regard to the Neos driving US policy.
The greatest outlier is to get close enough so that a 1st strike could be rendered in 30-60 seconds. Then, our defensive ABM shield could handle any stragglers that managed to be launched.
The way to prove the above thesis is true is to observe that "we" aren't going to leave this issue alone. Just wait - it will now be constantly in the news over the coming years as Iraq/Afg drop out of the picture. An incursion here, a build up there - we're not giving up.
And why not? Because the tight gas/oil plays in N America are a bust. The only way to access conventional fossil fuels is to get Russia's. We really have no choice if we want to see the US dollar remain as the reserve currency.
It might seem odd, but the US is now in a similar situation as Japan in 1940. We need to go after new sources if we are to survive. And just like Japan, all those "special" EOs and security measures will be brought to good use to shut-down all criticism as we bring this fight home.
