SIMFEROPOL, March 17, 0:52 /ITAR-TASS/. Upon the processing of 50% ballots cast Sunday in a referendum on Crimea’s future, a total of 95.5% voters who had come to the polling stations said ‘yes’ to the reunification of their region with Russia, Mikhail Malyshev, a person in charge of the referendum commission at the Crimean legislature said.

Another 3.5% voters said ‘yes’ to Crimea’s continued stay within Ukraine. Invalidated ballots made up 1% of the total. Malyshev said that the data did not feature the results of voting in Sevastopol.

The ballots in Sunday’s referendum contained two questions: 1) Are you in favor of Crimea's reunification with Russia in the status of a constituent territory of the Russian Federation and 2) Are you in favor of restoring the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Crimea and its status of an integral part of Ukraine.

As many as 1,534,815 people of Crimea and 309,774 people in the city of Sevastopol had the right to vote in the referendum.

As many as 27 territorial election committees and 1,239 polling stations, including 192 polling stations in the city of Sevastopol were set up for the event.

The expenditures for the referendum were covered from the autonomy’s budget. Referendum’s organizational costs stood at 1.7 million U.S. dollars.

“Putin is the main actor responsible for stopping the global warming scam in 04”

He also saved the earth from asteroid impact. Got it crushed into peaces on his shirtless chest (while riding a pony).

I don’t understand why some FReepers think this is legitimate. It’s like selling your house to a “buyer” who breaks in with armed thugs. “You want to sign, yes?”

It’s disgusting moral relativism. A pack of rabid Paulistians on the loose. They are certainly not conservatives.

Perhaps you could encourage American citizens to also remove a corrupt leader. We can’t tell others to do what we will not do here at home.

Please help.

Perhaps you should learn to walk and chew gum at the same time.

Yeah, you missed the dictatorial laws the previous elected president passed, kidnapping and tortures he sanctioned, use if live ammo on the overwhelmingly unarmed protesters, the $500 million mansion he built for himself etc.

Missed pretty much everything

Americans can vote their way to freedom anytime they want. We have an excellent chance this year of retaking the Senate and holding the boy king in check for the next two years until we can elect a real president.

That’s the point you Putin lovers usually make. Russia is right because they crack down on gays and they overrides all their other despicable actions. It’s one thing to dislike homos; it’s another to be so afraid of them that you would run to the beefy arms of a thug like Putin for protection (not to mention ironic). Don’t like homo marriage? Do something about it yourself. Quit being a little sissy asking for Uncle Vlad’s permission.

Speaking of sissies...

To all the Putin apologists,

Didn't you start a fight about this on that vanity thread of yours
but never had the balls to make a single reply on it?

Pretty impressive, seeing that the choices were between “yes” and “yes.”

I said what needed to be said and outed a bunch of Putin apologists in the process. You got a problem with that? There are plenty of other threads I’ve posted on since. Take it up there.

I know the US elections are always fair and balanced. *snicker* ask Al Franken.

Never followed the logic.

"The election was unfair."
"Yeah, but ours are also."

“According to international observers was in line with international norms.”

You are disseminating yet more false Russian propaganda. On the contrary, international observers are reporting the referendum was illegitimate due to vote fraud. For one such example:

Journalist voted at the Crimean referendum with Russian passport
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXG67YJVZuQ

Voter Fraud in Crimea, Ukraine. CNN Filmed Stuffing Ballots on Camera
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWk9EjiGR4A

Tatars in Crimea protest against vote to join Russia
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtuUpv5jTkw

Crimea Referendum: Ethnic Russians and Tatars protest ‘illegal’ Russian annexation
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y75WkG9dQu4

“24% of Tatars turned out and a majority of them apparently voted for union with Russia.”

That statement is yet another blatant numerical impossibility, because a 24 percent vote of the Tatars would represent only 3 percent of the total available voters. Since the Russian authorities are reporting a 79-80 percent voter turnout, it is an impossibility for there to be only a 24 percnt Tatar voter turnout, an overall 79-80 percent voter turnout, or a 90 percent vote favorable vote for annexation to Russia. The numbers the Russian propagandists are broadcasting and you are disseminating are numerical impossibilities.

“If this is also confirmed for Ukrainians, that pretty much upends Western assumptions about this being an only ethnic Russian vote.”

You are obviously behaving as a disinformation agent for the Putin’s Russian regime.

“Rather, its becoming clear a broad-cross section of Crimean society favors reunification with Russia. And the West and the rulers in Kiev whom no one by the way elected - are reduced to talking about a sham and illegality.”

Such in your face lies on your part raises the question of why you are working so hard on FR to propagate such absurdly false disinformation?

“They should hear themselves. Their anti-Russia animus borders on the absurd.”

Like the tens of thousands of Russians who just risked their very lives demonstrating against the Putin regime’s illegal invasion of the Ukraine and human rights abuses in Russia, we support Russian desires for peace and freedom under a true democratic and peaceful Russian government. We are anti-totalitarian government and anti-Communist, whereas you appear to be willing to disseminate any lie needed to support the criminal acts of the Putin regime and the agenda of international Communism.
