“But there is little doubt that Putin has been a terrorist when it comes to energy.”

How exactly? Europe hates to drill and has a voracious appetite. Russia loves to drill and has a big supply. It doesn’t make one a terrorist to be a firm business adversary.

Ever notice a pattern? The EU demands gas at price X, homosexuality to be celebrated in Moscow, how Chechyns should be a protected species, how NATO should expand right up to the Russian border, etc.
If Russia disagrees with the one sided rules of the EU, Russia is provoking trouble and unrest.
I had a relationship like that once.

They somehow have a divine right to say how everything must be, and if you simply disagree with their dictates, YOU are the one causing problems. The EU is like a psycho girlfriend.

Only two countries in Europe, Britain and Poland, allow fracking. And Poland, in light of recent events has fast tracked increasing shale exploration.

Historically, the primary feedstock has been Russian crude oil transported via the Druzhba pipeline, however the relevant branch of this system has been closed in Russian territory[3] since July 2006,[4] ostensibly for repairs.

"On October 12, 2006, a major fire erupted in the plant around 2:30 pm."

"Suspicions were raised by various high-profile persons as to whether the fire was an accident, or industrial sabotage on the part of the Russian energy companies in revenge for not being offered to buy the company. Notably, perhaps, the vice-leader of the Russian Duma, Konstantin Kosachev had said that "instability will continue to plague the refinery until the Lithuanians finally realize which partners one should choose" only a few hours before the start of the blaze."

The explosions suspended gas supply to Georgia and Armenia, at a time when the weather conditions were particularly severe. Because the explosion coincided with a sabotage on electricity lines miles away from the pipeline, the Georgian authorities claimed the explosions were a deliberate act of sabotage to force the nation into surrendering its pipelines to the Russian state-owned monopoly Gazprom.

Although Russia cut off supplies only to Ukraine, a number of European countries saw a drop in their supplies as well.[3] The European Commissioner for Energy Andris Piebalgs and several affected member states warned that blocking of gas deliveries was unacceptable.[citation needed] Pascal Lamy, director general of the World Trade Organisation, expressed the opinion that all Post-Soviet states should pay market prices for their energy needs in order to improve the efficiency of their economies

"On 28 December 2009, the Slovakian government announced that Russia warned it would stop oil supplies to Slovakia, Hungary, and the Czech Republic over a transit price dispute with Ukraine."

Always these disputes in the middle of winter, of course.

how Chechyns should be a protected species

So glad I was not eating when I read that.

But you are absolutely right! We threaten them and split off countries, giving portions to scum criminals who make the new country into a wasteland with horrible effects on Europe.

Then we get all worked up about Crimea. As I said, it is blatant hypocrisy.
