Actually, you don't want more states to follow. The purpose of these drug-testing provisions isn't to get people cleaned up. It's to take the useless and perpetually unemployable people in the state and give them an incentive to move somewhere else where the conditions for getting public assistance are much more lax.

This, by the way, is how Minnesota ended up with a bunch of new welfare cases in the mid-1990s. It wasn't because so many more people were finding themselves in difficult circumstances. It was because so many surrounding states enacted welfare reforms that made it harder for misfits to qualify.

You’re partially correct. I want the welfare ENDED; but this will work in the interim. I know, that whole ‘old’ document and something about ‘takings’ being so out-dated.
