That’s a great shirt. I think I’ll buy one.

A high school student in upstate New York was suspended for wearing an NRA T-shirt

Shane Kinney, a 16-year-old sophomore from Grand Island, located between Niagara Falls and Buffalo,

Niagara Falls is UP STATE New York? It’s not even in the northern half of the state.

I guess anything that is not New York City is up state these days.

When the left in any form attempts to stop us from freedom of speech, it's up to each and every one of US to stand up and do something about it. Contact the principal of this school and blast him for his attempt to stifle freedom of speech. Do it each time you read or hear about such attempts on our rights to freedom of speech. Does anyone have the address of this principle, phone number, whatever? There are enough of us, We the People, to stand up, make a big noise and demand that the rights of all law abiding citizens in this country be protected. Certainly there are enough of us on Freerepublic to stand up and do what is right...shall we get er’ done?

Sue everyone. Sue the principle personally.

More than likely, the kid and his family do not have the funds to sue the school or the administrator for the suspension. The kid made his point but paid a price as he is now going to be a “target” for anything that may look confrontational to the school rules. I can only hope there is a good lawyer out there that will take up the torch and “pro-bono” his cause.

> Grand Island is one of those geographic oddities that makes for great trivia betting. It’s one of only a few spots in the US where you can travel South and wind up in Canada.

I worked on Grand Island for twelve years. I am so thankful that it’s in the past. There are Grand Islanders who are proud of the fact that they haven’t been off the island in 10 or 15 years. On Grand Island family reunions are the best places to find dates. And the reason so many Grand Islanders look similar is because of the reduced gene pool.
My daughter didn’t believe me until she took a caregiver job at a nursing home on Grand Island and then one day she came to me and said, “Dad you were right. Grand Island is some kind of inbred community.”

You mean like a college faculty or an MSN newsroom or Congress?

Wow you're a real stickler. My family (well my great-grandparents) are from the town(s) that holds the undisputed Upstate title, but I'd still say anything along the Canadian border qualifies. (They do say UP-state not NORTH-state.)
