If the Russians invade, they should order the troops to destroy the tanks in place, and surrender.

They could call it the "McConnell Doctrine."

I would be very surprised if Ukraine had not wargamed or planned for the possibility of a Russian invasion. It's what armies do.

As others have noted, though, there is more than one way to fight for your country. It is possible that Ukranian forces could be heavily defeated in the field, but put yourself in their shoes. Would you advocate a similar strategy in our homeland should a more powerful enemy threaten us with conventional forces? Or would you fight?

Your question doesn't describe the situation correctly. The Ukrainian tanks are lost, either destroyed by the Russians, destroyed by their own troops, or captured by the Russians. That's a given. A tank, today, in the open, without air support, is like a target duck in a shooting gallery. Dead. The question is, do you throw away several thousand of your best troops, or pull them out to fight an unconventional war.

It's easy for you, and others, to speak of "what would you do if we had the same situation here..?" Grand gestures usually accomplish nothing, except they cost lives..Another strategy is to pull them back..cede land..to fight in another place, at another time..

Does the Colorado national guard plan for battles with the Kansas guard?

If they did they probably said, "damn, I wish we had some decent anti-tank weapons." We should have been sending them LAWs, TOWs and Javelins, in non-provocative numbers all along.

Now, we'd better start sending them this:
