Vladimir Putin's message to the west: Russia is back
The Guardian ^ | Tuesday 18 March 2014 | Simon Tisdall

Vladimir Putin likes to take his kit off in public. But Tuesday's exhibition of naked power by Russia's president at a joint parliamentary session in Moscow was delivered fully clothed before a conservatively suited audience of officials and adoring, applauding fans dressed up as MPs.

Speaking at a white rostrum amid flags, flourishes and gold leaf, a dapper-looking Putin's message was clear: after years of being cheated and dissed by the western powers, Russia is back. The US and friends could like it or lump it. But as the Ukraine crisis showed, Russia would no longer take it lying down.

Putin spoke primarily about Crimea, whose cause was "sacred" and whose return to the Russian fold was justified, democratic and legal. But his broader theme was that Russia was finally standing up for its rights nearly a quarter of a century after the Soviet collapse.

Yeah, we didn't nuke the place into oblivion when it was flat on its back. In fact, we helped pay its nuclear scientists so they wouldn't peddle their expertise to Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, etc. Of course, quite a few of them did anyway...

By refraining from doing so, we demonstrated for all time that we have no designs on Russia, their territory, their economy, their oil reserves, nothing.

So now, after they get back on their feet again, they're saber rattling, flying Tu-95s over our military bases and ships, and generally acting like a-holes.

If the situation had been reversed, I wonder if we would have been as safe from them?

A “dapper-looking Putin” . . . I don’t think I’ve seen the Manchester Guardian this cheerful in a good while.

That’s a fact. As well as MacArthur in Korea after the Red Chinese attacked us.

Then we started interfering in Kosovo, Georgia and elsewhere in Russia’s backyard.

People who know and have studied history, i.e. the Europeans, are comparing this speech today to the ones once made by that other guy, I forget the name, long dead, moustache.

I wonder if Germany feels all warm and fuzzy over their kneejerk reaction to Fukishimo making themselves more dependent on Russia.

Yep, Reagan defeated them, and nobody occupied them, or even held war crimes.

“Vladimir Putin’s message to the west: Russia is back”

I don’t give a flying fig what Putin says. I’m more concerned in taking back my country from the commie pig Buckwheat and his purse-carying fags.

It shouldn’t be that difficult if we can get 10% of conservatives to get up off their lazy, fat asses.

For example, brain-dead conservatives can attend schoolboard meetings to kick commies out of their local schools. I know that’s asking much of Mammon-worshiping idiots, but it can be done with the Lord’s help.

We deserve the humiliation we’re receiving. For now.

They won't be back until they get their birthrate up.

They're dying out. They better start worrying about China in the east.
