You’re right about the pre-K being simply another freebie, but I have no problem with eliminating the charter schools. They are better than the “regular” public schools, but they exist to simply create a two-tiered public school system (which prevents the much larger lower tier from ever being fixed). Here in NJ charter schools are putting private schools out of business (even renting their former buildings); it is simply a way for tax dollars to provide a “better” public education for a select few (rather than letting the taxpayers use those dollars for schools truly of their own choice).
