Moscow signals concern for Russians in Estonia (they're after the Baltics!)
Reuters ^ | Mar 19, 2014 | Robert Evans

Russia signaled concern on Wednesday at Estonia's treatment of its large ethnic Russian minority, comparing language policy in the Baltic state with what it said was a call in Ukraine to prevent the use of Russian.

The text of the Russian remarks, echoing long-standing complaints over Estonia's insistence that the large Russian minority in the east of the country should be able to speak Estonian, was not immediately available.

...

U.S. Vice President Joe Biden is currently in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius as part of a trip to reassure the three countries, all European Union and NATO members, of Washington's support.

Ukraine told the rights council that U.N. experts had found no credible evidence of mistreatment of its Russian minority as alleged by Moscow -- one of whose pro-Kremlin newspapers said this week there was "bloodshed almost like in Syria" in the east of the country. ...

I’ve predicted this for some time, more with China than Russia. All these bad guys will make their moves while we have a kook leftist president in office, and before he leaves.

And that is why Obama might just get us into WWIII.

Damn, that is quick. Then again, Obama is so weak, Putin could probably take Sweden. Nobody would miss them anyway.

I understand those of Russian lineage are under persecution in U.K. as well.

Now we know what, "I can be more flexible after the election," really meant.

An entire Estonian province bordering Russia is over 70% Russian. (Ida-Viru) Another is about 50% Russian. Russians make up about 1/4 of the overall population in Estonia.

Maybe, we’ll see. They are talking big and tough now to distract from the Crimea and make it look like a much smaller deal when it all dies down - and no one will then do anything about it.

What comes after that, who knows?

Wonder if he’s concerned about the Russians living in the US. Not to give him any ideas or anything - nah.

Putin might be slightly camp, have a raging inferiority complex and definitely power crazed but I don’t think he’s out and out stupid.

The Russian version of a blitzkrieg.

BTW, Sweden is worried:

In Sweden, which has strong ties to the Baltics, Finance Minister Anders Borg said Russia was “a bit more erratic and unpredictable” and called for more defence spending.

His statement came a day after Sweden moved two fighter jets to Gotland, a Baltic island almost demilitarized in recent years due to spending cuts. Deputy Prime Minister JanBjorklund called this week for a “doctrinal shift” in Swedish defence policy. There has been talk of Sweden fully joining NATO.

Yeah, and they are dim bulb villager types. Anybody with ambition took their EU passport and got out of there long ago. What is left is the dregs, mostly. Many are still pissed about that famous Red Army statute that got sent to the dump in Estonia a few years ago. Big loyalty problem there and Putin knows it.
