DETROIT - Restructuring consultants have recommended that Detroit increase its parking fines for the first time since 2001 and crack down harder on people who don't pay to boost revenue for the bankrupt city.

Detroit Chief Operating Officer Gary Brown is advocating for the changes, which he says would bring in an additional $6 million per year.

"We're a city that needs every dime that we can find. So, we're going to use every avenue we can to collect revenue," Brown said.

Yup, and I'm sure the majority can afford to pay for parking. I got a parking ticket in Los Angeles once for using a meter that was busted. I even tried to fight it. Ended up having to pay a lot of money because the city couldn't/wouldn't maintain the meters. It was all about generating revenue. But I'm sure this wouldn't happen in Detroit. Either way, it's straining at gnats given how financially destitute this city is.

They could just remove the meters and raise taxes some more. That’s sure to help. /s

“Consultants: Detroit could increase parking fines, crack down on non-payers, to raise revenue.”

Tell these idiot consultants that people in Hell want ice water. The people in Hell have got about as much chance at getting ice water as Detroit has in making revenue off these increased fines and enforcement ideas.

Mr. Brown - Asshole and stupid too.

Does he think that anyone will open a business in Detroit if their customers can get a $100 or more parking ticket?

Now you know why Detroit is such a shit hole. It started with Comrade Coleman Young and now his successor, Mr. Brown.

Where did they get these guys, “Stupids R Us”?

Great solution!

The solution for the left is always more force, more tyranny, more skulls cracked!

Never more liberty, freedom and less government.

raise parking fees and fines?
Sounds like a great way to drive customers to the suburbs for their shopping pleasure.
Why would anyone go to Detroit for any reason??
