My grandfather drove a buckboard to town with a rifle under his seat every day before cars were here.

I drove a `51 Dodge with a .22 LR, open bolt, in the rear window so the NY State troopers could see it, 50 years ago.

Both were the gov accepted norm/law/right of the day.

These govs/cronies Obummer, NY CT VA CA are communists.

They have to be removed from office...throw out the bums and throw out these anti-constitutional “phony laws”

Elections have consequences. IIRC it is the Beltway crowd around DC that drew in the votes to get McAwful elected.

Too bad for regular Virginia folk...

As a lifelong Virginian in Fairfax County, we understand in a very deep way the culture clash between us and our liberal friends on the other side of the river.

There is absolutely no reason for anybody that lives in Virginia to ever go into Maryland, ever.

Ok, maybe for a Redskins game and when the Caps where playing at the Cap Center, other than that and even for family, there is no other reason.

I sent Ken Cuccinelli an email during his election bid and suggested that he paint McAuliffe as some one that will turn VA into MD. This could have or would have been a winning strategy.

For those that are not from the area I’m certain those that are, can attest to the cultural divide that exists between these two states.

Too bad Virginians. You let the illegals in, and didn’t fight hard enough. You probably let them get away with cheating, too. A Repugnican’t has to win by 10% now, to win by 3%.

McAuliffe wanted the bill to say that individuals without concealed carry permits had to have the gun (handgun/pistol) locked in a compartment, not just secured.

I absolutely hate that I'm going to type this...

...but I can't argue with that.

Damn Breitbart's staff for making me agree with that a$$hat. Is this where that site's going? Hype?

Text of Virginia HB962:

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia: 1. That § 18.2-308 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows: § 18.2-308. Carrying concealed weapons; exceptions; penalty. A. If any person carries about his person, hidden from common observation, (i) any pistol, revolver, or other weapon designed or intended to propel a missile of any kind by action of an explosion of any combustible material; (ii) any dirk, bowie knife, switchblade knife, ballistic knife, machete, razor, slingshot, spring stick, metal knucks, or blackjack; (iii) any flailing instrument consisting of two or more rigid parts connected in such a manner as to allow them to swing freely, which may be known as a nun chahka, nun chuck, nunchaku, shuriken, or fighting chain; (iv) any disc, of whatever configuration, having at least two points or pointed blades which is designed to be thrown or propelled and which may be known as a throwing star or oriental dart; or (v) any weapon of like kind as those enumerated in this subsection, he is guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor. A second violation of this section or a conviction under this section subsequent to any conviction under any substantially similar ordinance of any county, city, or town shall be punishable as a Class 6 felony, and a third or subsequent such violation shall be punishable as a Class 5 felony. For the purpose of this section, a weapon shall be deemed to be hidden from common observation when it is observable but is of such deceptive appearance as to disguise the weapon's true nature. It shall be an affirmative defense to a violation of clause (i) regarding a handgun, that a person had been issued, at the time of the offense, a valid concealed handgun permit.

B. This section shall not apply to any person while in his own place of abode or the curtilage thereof.

C. Except as provided in subsection A of § 18.2-308.012, this section shall not apply to:

Gun control laws have only one purpose: to criminalize conservatives and isolate them as “bad people”.

As long as we still have Louisville Sluggers to set these clowns straight.

No sense giving them an excuse to round up the good stuff.

Oops...forgot the pertinent 'exception':

10. Any person who may lawfully possess a firearm and is carrying a handgun while in a personal, private motor vehicle or vessel and such handgun is secured in a container or compartment in the vehicle or vessel. For purposes of this subsection, the term "compartment" includes a console, glove compartment, or any other area within or on the vehicle or vessel that possesses the ability to be closed and the term "secured" means that a container or compartment be closed but not necessarily locked; and

I’m not going to debate this. Flame away, I could give a crap. My final statement:

I’m a minority in a prog state, have a CC and know the laws of all the states through which I may travel. I find it’s maddening my state has no reciprocity; I have to know the laws in my state as well as know & abide by the general gun laws of those other states. I hope Virginia has preemption, but it matters not to me as I will never drive through that state. Frankly I think Texas’ laws should be adopted nationwide and there be 50-state reciprocity.

If I didn’t have my CC it would be OC, secured, or always on my way to the range....and secured would be in a lockbox or range bag in the trunk. Too many guns get stolen as crimes of opportunity from lazy gun owners’ cars. I’m not advocating nanny state, but simply stating a handgun not in a holster or on the adjacent seat should be in a lockbox or in a (range) bag/container in the trunk.

That’s common sense in my book. If the laws get more restrictive in my state, as they keep trying to do, I’m forfeiting my CC and OCing EVERYWHERE; I WILL end up on the news, guaranteed.

Not good enough? TS

i think all we have to do is see if the last 50-60 years of gun laws have made life harder for law abiding citizens to exercise their rights, or made it easier,

and then we can clearly see if that right is being infringed or not. i think everyone here knows where i stand. if you don’t read the tagline.

We keep getting robo calls from Rove’s group about what a disaster McAwful is....
The frustrating aspect is not being able to say that if they had supported Cuch, we wouldn’t be in this mess...and tell them this is what they wanted.
Screw them all.....
