BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A proposal to add new regulations for abortion providers in Louisiana has received the unanimous support of the House health care committee.

The bill by Rep. Katrina Jackson, a Democrat from Monroe, would require doctors who perform abortions to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital. It's similar to a controversial restriction recently passed in Texas.

“The bill by Rep. Katrina Jackson, a Democrat...”

Wow. Just, WOW!

I am NOT pro-abortion in the least - I KNOW it’s taking a LIFE - no doubt about it.

However, when Dems are behind this kind of stuff, my FIRST thought is: They’re adding yet ANOTHER generation to the Welfare State and their voting coffers!

We can’t win on this issue. We cannot win this one. *SIGH*

The person proposing the provision is Representative Katrina Jackson of Monroe.

She is a Democrat, and her picture is below...

The bill currently is proceeding without objections...

I cannot imagine this running into trouble in the Republican controlled Senate or from Republican Governor Bobby Jindal...

One important claim of the article is that this will close 3 of the 5 abortion clinics in Louisiana — leaving only ones in Shreveport open...

The Morning Advocate (Baton Rouge based newspaper) has this article on the legislation:
