Seattle minimum wage: Do it my way, says (socialist Kshama) Sawant
Seattle PI ^ | 3/19/14 | Joel Connelly

Kshama Sawant has held office less than three months, but the Seattle City Council socialist wants her newly unveiled $15-an-hour minimum wage plan to be “the main agenda item” as Mayor Ed Murray’s income advisory committee meets next week.

**SNIP**

She would implement a $15-an-hour minimum wage for “big business” on Jan. 1, 2015, with prescribed cost of living increases after that. There would be no credit for tips paid to restaurant and hotel workers, no teenage wage and no training wage.

“Small business” would be allowed a three-year phase-in, starting with an $11-an-hour minimum wage next January. Full implementation would include cost of living increases. “Offering a phase-in to small business will force the discussion to focus on big business,” Sawant said Wednesday.

It could also be considered putting the mayor’s committee, and the city council, under threat.

Then stop her. It's the democratic way.

If they put this idiot in charge of the city, there would be a fog shortage in Seattle in three years

Why not $150.00 per hour...or $1,500.00?

The arrogant ignorance of the leftists is boundless, as exemplified by this clown. Of course, in Seattle, she is more mainstream than not.
Seattle deserves everything it gets. Elections have consequences.
I will give her style points for boxing in the Mayor on the distinction between large and small businesses and attempting to force his position. A well played example of the incrementalism that is the hallmark of the socialists; “if you don’t agree with me 100%, then you must agree with me 50%.”
She is still so very, very wrong.

Everyone of then are thinking....how do we shut this idiot up....?

We need to get our palms greased first....

I'd encourage her.

It's a Democrat city. The only way to get to renewal is probably to let the fire burn out on its own. (In the case of Rome, it took about 1200 years to get renewal started, but I'm patient guy!)

Does Kshama Sawant have any business experience, like even running a lemonade stand? Or is she simply just another typical Democrat with a seriously disordered mind combined with a twisted and warped concept of Utopia?

Are there too many low information voters in Seattle?

Seattle was lost long ago. I’m afraid it can never be salvaged.

WHat is a Big Business you may ask?
Its one that don’t pay a bribe to be exempt from this law.
Look for more people who will be free to start learning how to write poetry, paint with watercolors and spent more time with their kids.

What a business pays their employees is none of the government’s business.

Found out yesterday that in some cases it is.

Just hearing about the first effects of the Obama minimum wage increases for government contractors. A busy McDonald’s on government leased property just closed at Menriv in Goose Creek SC. Was also accessible to the general public. Under Obama’s edict they would have had to pay the employees 10.10 an hour so they had to close. Story I heard was that other area McD’s absorbed all of the employees but I doubt such a thing was possible. No idea what this will do to other non government concessions on bases but I see many closing.
Employees were told a couple of weeks ago if Obama signed the increase, they would have to close. They did.

People who are on bases please let us know if any other non government concessions have closed. This could be one of the first but not the last.

She needs to take a course on human nature. The failure of socialism is derived from its stubborn and purposeful ignorance of human nature while the success of capitalism is derived from its dependence upon it.

I would tell her that if she wants this, that now she and everyone, based on their income, would pay businesses a premium over their posted prices in order to support the poor getting better wages, and berate her for her lack of compassion if she refuses.

IMO, Boeing would be glad to use this as an excuse to move everything out of the state of Washington & go to the Southern part of the USA. They might even be able to get rid of their union, also.

You cannot expect jobs to stay where they are not wanted or supported. A business can vote with it’s feet-—EVERY TIME.

Some restaurants in So Calif are posting a surcharge on all of their menus ‘to pay for Obamacare’. They are making it very plain & obvious.
