They want all the perks with none of the responsibility.

It’s easier taking lobbyist payoffs and hiding in Congress.
Why don’t they want to win the White House? Because then they would actually have to lead and that comes with too many risks they prefer to avoid. Better to maintain control of the party and be in the minority. That way, they get all the perks of being in the ruling elite and none of the headaches.
