Three starving children—including one who was chained to the floor to prevent her from getting food—were found last month in the squalid home of a Northern California couple, authorities said.
All three—two boys and a girl—were taken into protective custody, and one was hospitalized, Monterey County Sheriff Scott Miller said Friday.

It’s worse than that: It’s called, let’s let incompetent individuals run child custody services and law enforcement. Competent law enforcement and child protection officials wouldn’t care how much PC bull#$%^ gets thrown their way, they would investigate and have a strong determination to evaluate and make sure things were going along properly.

i live in NC... a pretty conservative state... i work for a law firm... pretty heinous crimes happen here... to children... unfortunately, it is not shocking... there are homosexuals here, too...
I think MooseKnuckles was referring more to the culture of the west coast, which has actively promoted and enshrined in law every sort of perversion, well before the rest of the states. They have been the leaders in every 60s-inspiried transgression brought to the courts and rammed down throats of the rest of the nation through subsequent "full faith and credit" decisions.
FORT WORTH – The mother of a 9-year-old Arlington boy who starved to death has pleaded guilty to capital murder. Marcella Williams, 25, was sentenced Monday to life in prison for the 2004 death of Davontae Williams.
The plea agreement allowed Ms. Williams to avoid a possible death sentence. She will have to serve at least 40 years before becoming eligible for parole. "We think it was the right thing to do," said Mitch Poe, an assistant Tarrant County district attorney.
"Her family had gone to her and said, 'Go ahead and plead guilty. You know you're guilty. You know you did it. Don't put us through another trial.' "
Much of Davontae's short, neglected life was played out in June during the capital murder trial of Lisa Ann Coleman, his mother's girlfriend. Ms. Coleman, 30, is on death row for her role in the boy's death. Davontae's body was found July 26, 2004, at the home he shared with Ms. Williams and Ms. Coleman.
Davontae was malnourished and had more than 250 scars or wounds on his body, officials said. He weighed about 35 pounds – not much more than a toddler, Mr. Poe said.
Child Protective Services conducted several investigations throughout the boy's life. Davontae's history of abuse dates back to a first report to CPS when he was 2 months old. The agency would go on to make five more reports of neglect or physical abuse.
Davontae was removed from his mother's home in October 1999 after a caseworker found him scarred and hungry. The boy was reunited with his family a year later.
In June 2001, there were more reports of neglect, but the family fled before caseworkers could catch up to them.
In a sixth and final report in October 2002, CPS interviewed Davontae at Webb Elementary School, which he attended. The following month, his mother withdrew him from school and told officials she was moving.
Davontae remained hidden from social workers and school officials until paramedics were called to breathe life into his emaciated body.
"It's a very sad ending to a very sad set of events," Mr. Poe said.

Lombard, whose online name was "pervdad", was a youth leader in his local Episcopal Church, in addition to his paid postion at Duke as associate director of Duke's Center for Health Policy.
Even though he raped his own child, ostensibly perpetrated fraud by promising to be an appropriate adoptive parent, and made child porn videos of his abuse of his adopted son, Lombard was sentenced to a mere 27 years. Considering that the threat of gay sex would have little impact on his life behind bars, he will probably get out for good behavior when the child is approaching college age, assuming a competent family has been found to foster and rehabilitate that gravely injured child.

It's a worthy goal, worth working towards in your state legislature. As you may have heard, the gay lobby is doing everything it can to encourage adoption agencies to have some sort of "affirmative action" preference for gay couples over straights, even if the mother is Christian and has a moral objection. The Catholic charities agency in Massachusetts, long one of the most reputable adoption providers nationwide, had to shut down in that state because of its gay marriage legalization.
Christians have been too lazy or too trusting for too long. Our fight to being able to continue to legally uphold our way of life in this Marxist paradise is going to be a long one.
I read in the DailyMail that the children they treated well were both males, and the child they most abused, starved and chained was female. Things that make you go "humph?"

Yes, the MSM did the same suppression of the news that the adoptive parents were gay with the case of the despicable Frank Lombard (”pervdad”) from Duke.
