Rep. Ted Poe: 'Cold War II' Is Coming

Texas Republican Rep. Ted Poe said Friday the uncertainty over Russia's aggression in Ukraine is causing "Cold War II."

In an interview with Fox News' Defcon 3 program, Poe said Russia President Vladimir Putin "does have his eyes on the former Soviet republics."

"That uncertainty is causing the international tension," said Poe, who serves on the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

"We're in Cold War II. The Russians know it ... but I don't think the United States knows it."

Two days after Ukraine conceded defeat in the face of Russia’s takeover of its military bases in Crimea, Poe asserted Russia is "in Crimea to stay."

"We seem not be concerned about the Russian aggression in the east," he said, adding: "I'm not sure NATO would come to the defense if [Russia were to make a move on] Estonia. I think Putin is going to wait and see."

Despite the Obama administration's assurance to NATO allies, Poe said the United States “hasn’t done anything” effective in response to Russia’s actions in Crimea.

I used to spend time in Weisbaden in a NG unit assigned to the 165th Military Intelligence Battalion from 1983 to 1986.

So, you might be wondering what an air traffic controller was doing in Mainz-Kastel? I was doing a staff job, creating instrument flight procedures. We were located in the Defense Mapping Agency building. We needed their maps to do this. I have long since retired, but I am pretty sure all this is done by computers now.

In Weisbadan, we were seeking the field information to create sand tables of targets, I guess they still do that.

Regan won the cold war and Bush/Clinton lost it. You are exactly correct. Instead of helping Russia recover from the cold war we pushed it back into cold war 2.

What else to expect when hitting the “Reset Button” with Russia?

"The majority of the political leaders and the population in general is in complete denial as to the fact the most of the rest of the world want to kill all of us.."

And lead by a pretender who largely shares the same views, but will settle for subjugation rather than mass death.

If we had a president with some hardware, we could set Russia back 35 years, in short order, and never fire a shot.

It is all economics, of course Reagan understood that and destroyed the Soviet Union...Peace through Strength.

Putin knows we could put a boot up his arse, but also knows this current president doesn’t know that, so for the next 3 years Putin is going to restore the old USSR.
