TV report: Abbas said ‘no’ to Obama on 3 core peace issues
The Times of Israel ^ | 3/22/2014

On his trip to Washington this week, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas rejected US Secretary of State John Kerry’s framework document for continued peace talks with Israel, and issued “three no’s” on core issues, leaving the negotiations heading for an explosive collapse, an Israeli TV report said Friday.

Abbas “went to the White House and said ‘no’ to Obama,” Channel 2 news reported, quoting unnamed American and Israeli sources.

Specifically, the report said, Abbas rejected Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s demand that he recognize Israel as a Jewish state. He also refused to abandon the Palestinian demand for a “right of return” for millions of Palestinians and their descendants — a demand that, if implemented, would drastically alter Israel’s demographic balance and which no conceivable Israeli government would accept. And finally, he refused to commit to an “end of conflict,” under which a peace deal would represent the termination of any further Palestinian demands of Israel.

Israel has indicated that it may not release a fourth and final group of Palestinian prisoners at the end of this month, as agreed to when the current talks began last July, if Abbas does not first agree to extend the talks beyond their scheduled cessation next month. Since Abbas rejected the Kerry framework for extending the talks, the TV report said, the negotiations were now heading for an “explosion.”

What a surprise...NOT! I just hope Netanyahu feels like an @$$ after the previous 3 prisoner releases. It's not like there was no opposition to the releases!

It’s always been the Palestinians who block the formation of a country for themselves. Israel and Netanyahu can’t wait to form the Palestinian state; it’s only the Palestinians who don’t want it!

he refused to commit to an “end of conflict,”

Wow.

Such a deal I have for you.

If you don't agree, then the conflict is not over.

If you agree, then the conflict is not over.

The business of Arab conflict with Israel is pure profit for the Arab side and a debit sheet for the rest of the world.

Sickening.

Another STELLAR example of the Obama-Hillary-Kerry record of FAILURE.

As the saying goes, "Palestinians never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity."

It's obvious to the blindest soul that "Palestinians" will never forsake violence until they've obtained the last inch of Israel and pushed the last Jew into the sea.
What most people can't see is they will not forsake violence even after that.

I wonder if anybody in DC understands that we have been played by the Arab world with a bogus "palestinian" issue for at least forty years..

I know nobody in the current administration understands this

The day a "Palestinian State" is born, the Arab world will eliminate their leadership and take control of the that state...

This has been going on since the time of David and Goliath. Not going to change now. The results on both sides are likely to be the same too.

The EU, arab states and America have increased donated to Abbas’s Swiss Bank accounts. No industy lack of improvement despite the Billions given to the PLO.

If Abbas made peace he would have to produce results or be voted out.

By Palestinian media incitement and fomenting hatred in schools and Mosques, Abass has kept his people’s attention on blaming Israel for the lack of progress and they are too stupid to inquire where all that Aid money went.

Sure some of it is used to attack Israelis and Hamas, but
Israel doesn’t stop them from investing in infrastructure education and industry. Cheating the Palestinians by its leadership does.

People have the idea that war is optional. But if your enemy is at war with you, it doesn't really matter if you consider yourself at war with him or not. He is at war with you, and therefore you are at war like it or not.

There is no set of circumstances under which the arabs will accept a Jewish state in the middle east, or anywhere for that matter.

There is no chance that the muslims will accept a non-muslim state in their midst or next door. They will always be at war with hindus, bhuddists, Christians, jews, and if there are no non-muslims within reach to kill they'll kill one another.

The only peace in the middle east is the peace within Israel's well guarded borders. The only way to bring more peace is to expand those borders and to push muslims ever further from civilized people. Letting muslims take up residence among you and letting down your defenses against the muslims outside the gates is a recipe for permanent war.

The conflict is only worsened by the US State Department’s insistence on negotiation. The fact that Israel is at all negotiable encourages the war to continue.

The threat of war is the only thing that makes guys like Abbas important; they will never give it up. The moment they give up on war they become backwater mayors of backwater towns in the back of beyond. Thats not what they signed up for. Whatever they win at the negotiating table, they must always return to violence to keep the goodies coming and to keep the world beating a path to their door.

The only way to bring peace is to absolutely stop talking to them. If they want to talk to someone, let them talk to the Israelis directly without any foreign involvement.

——an explosive collapse——

For there to be a collapse of negotiations there must be negotiations.

The actual negotiations are effectively an Obama administration concept put forward by the press. Rather than a diplomatic reality, they are merely a press event.

“If Abbas made peace he would have to produce results or be voted out.”

There would have to be an actual vote, of course. Something Abu Mazen has avoided for going on 9 years now.
