Did you notice up on the left, in this photo, the Commander forming his troops in front of the building?

Can’t tell for sure, but it looks like the Russians are handling this better than the BATF and the FBI would. They would just burn all the buildings down with everybody in them.

That fits with what I've been reading of soldiers saying Kiev Government and pretty much everyone else had abandoned them....However this base was given many weeks to comply as did the other 70 who already had left or changed sides. Not sure I buy he didn't get orders.....did he not stay in contact with other Base Commanders and know they were leaving? So somethings real fishy about this commander and IMO he wanted another stand off as he had before.p>

Very good point. The Russians treat those whom they are invading better than the Feds treat citizens.

Putin will “keep on doin what he’s doin”, until the West-IMF banking and insurance “instruments”, QE fraud, and the Congressional Country Club is threatened. At which time a propaganda designed to whip up war and arms fever will commence, suckering many, including the ingnorant here on FR, into the war’s real purpose, cashing for as many govt. contractors and killing thousands of public schooled dumbed ritalined.

((......"The youth of today is blessed to have grown up in such comparative peace and tranquility. They will be easier to conquer down the road"))

Question raised/stated on Town Hall...." How does teaching kids to turn into a jellied mass of quivering fear because some kid chewed a gun into a Pop Tart square with the importance of knowing how to use firearms for adults?"

and further...."How did the toughest, most independent society since Sparta turn into a wuss factory full of people who've never had an adventure in their life outside of a video game?"

more..." We now have an entire grievance industry full of losers who spend all their time complaining that they're "offended" by everything from the name of the Redskins to the "Patriarchy" to politicians using "violent language" like "crosshairs" and "job killing."

Can you imagine a member of the Greatest Generation complaining because a Japanese soldier called him a mean name? Do you think the wagon trains on the Oregon Train were more worried about "isms" or trying to avoid dying of dysentery and being scalped?

Exactly....but I don't think he'll bite his nose off to spite his face.

Nothing Putin's doing is any surprise to the EU or the USA.....maybe the people but not the Nation Leaders....Putin's made it quite clear what he would do if the Eu/Nato continued to encroach on his area of influence...and they knew this would happen when they went after Ukraine's Government as they did.

Ukraine just wasn't smart enough to see the EU and US was using them from the get go....Putin saw it coming....

.... the guy took back Crimea without a war....all in about three weeks!..Because he knew he could. I doubt he wants Ukraine now.....maybe the east where all the industry is...and which are primarily Russian...Ukraine's too much of a drag on everyone to take under their belt.....they owe Russian alone over 11 Billion just in gas revenues. They stopped paying their bills long ago.

If anything Putin will let the Eu shape Ukraine up at their expense, and make a deal similar to the one he had with them...He already has the Gemstone he wanted for now.

********************************

I think there's a good chance this is going to happen sooner rather than later. Thousands of Russian troops currently massing on the border of southeastern Ukraine are merely involved in training exercises .... or so says the Kremlin.

As to Russian troops on the border...I assume you know that there are also Ukraine tanks etc. there as well....Kiev sent them there as they knew three weeks ago this was a volitile area as primarily Russian Citizens there who are always squabbling with Ukranians. There were early conflicts there so Ukraine and Russia both want the Industry etc. protected....

Ukraine has already stated it will NOT go to war with Russia....and at the Brussels EU meeting they too said they would not go to war over Ukraine...and Obama said as well. So I doubt there will be war....if anything Putin will go in as He did in Crimea...but it won’t be as neat and tidy this time around if he does. I don’t think he will until much later...a year or more if that. Will depend on the political climate.

Eastern Europe belongs to the Russians if they send the tanks over the plains. Who would be able to stop them?

Ukraine just wasn't smart enough to see the EU and US was using them from the get go.

Ukraine's not being used by anyone. Ukraine's trying to use the EU and the US to ward off Russia. The problem with this strategy is that Ukrainians are not a significant demographic in either geography. Ukraine spent its post-Soviet days screwing around instead of preparing for war. It is now paying the price. It has nobody to blame for its current situation except itself. The Russian zeal for universal empire under Russian rule is a given. For Ukrainians to bury their heads in the sand was imprudent. For them to give the Crimea up without a shot is, frankly, about the most cowardly display ever seen since Edward Benes handed the Sudetenland over to Germany without resistance.

Not so.....Ukraine’s PM spoke this week they want to be Independant...joining Nato is a none issue. Alliance with EU “politically” was signed but ‘not economic’ agreement.

Ukraine’s so debt ridden etc. nobody wants it...Putin of course does but doen’t want the mess Maid left for someone to clean up...he’ll wait except maybe in Eastern and Souther Ukraine....

I agree they can blame nobody but themselves....so now they want someone to rescue them and the most they can get are loans from the IMF and EU etc....and this with EU taking control of their Gov. finances....and we know how that goes...they already cut social services to pay for defense...and pensions too will go.

Still I can’t blame the citizens as much as the crooks, like we have, who skimmed off the top billions instead of investing in the country.

We can’t forget theirs a huge economic and oil war going on world wide..and Putins largely on the move as much as the EU....Ukraine was known to be a sore spot for ages and if you touch it you touch the Bear.....so they knew this would happen...and oh my...now they have an excuse to slow down Putin by sanctions....even though he won Crimea without a war. Different rules for Russia then rest of the world and I think they crossed the line at Ukraine...his sphere of influence.....

Either way...it remains to be seen...but he may very well go for Ukraine if they pressure him too far.....and Irans deals off the table and N.Korea....he’ll fully go in their courts.

Why continue to occupy a base if you have no intentions of defending it? This Gandhi and MLK bs isn’t going to cut it with the Russians. Public opinion and optics are meaningless. No one is going to help them.

“What did that foolish Commander expect to ‘accomplish’ by telling his troops to “stand their ground”...when over 70 bases had already gone to Russia, as well as Crimea had already voted to go with Russia and basically a done deal.”

March 21 - less than 2,000 out of 18,000 soldiers of Ukrainian military forces, who are currently stationed in the Republic of Crimea, showed the wish to leave for Ukraine.

Ukrainian soldiers in Crimea have actually been offered three options: to swear allegiance to Crimea military, to receive Russian passports and remain in the peninsula as civilians, or to leave Crimea.

I don’t see the problem with Russia taking over Europe. I am sure the Russians believe they are exceptional, just as we do.

How about Russia taking some of Canada? Russia currently has a border dispute with them. Once the rule of law is gone the murdering KGB thug is free to do as he wishes.

How about a nuclear war in the middle east with Russian proxy Iran? Any problem with that?

The only morons on FR are the moral relativist brain damaged isolationists who can’t think more than one move ahead on their checkerboards.

The reason Ukraine is so important is that once the rule of law is gone you have the rule of the jungle. Once it acceptable for for Putin to dismember neighboring countries and arm Iran with nuclear weapons you will get the rule of the jungle. This creeping fascism will hurt us all. Either we deal with the murdering KGB thug firmly now or we pay the bill with our stolen liberty later. Those are the only two choices and no moral relativist day dream with change it.
