A top campaign advisor to Alison Lundergan Grimes, the Democratic challenger to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell in Kentucky, scoffed at the notion McConnell is "invincible" in a new memo set to be released Friday.... after The New York Times published a lengthy analysis of the unprecedented nature of a potential McConnell loss.
The memo delves into the details of why the Grimes campaign believes McConnell is more vulnerable than ever.
First, McConnell is devoting precious time and energy to a challenge from the right in Republican Matt Bevin, with the primary on May 20. Hurst also argues Grimes has grassroots and polling advantages. He points out that, for the last seven months, "our campaign has steadily polled ahead of or in a dead-heat with Mitch McConnell," including the recent Bluegrass Poll in February in which Grimes had a 4-point lead. He also emphasizes Grimes' 12-point advantage with women in that poll.
"Our multimillion-dollar war chest will allow us to go toe-to-toe with the McConnell campaign and tout Alisons message in every corner of the Commonwealth."
The other points in the memo focus on what Hurst described as Grimes' edge in grassroots organizing, while also touting her 20-point jobs plan for Kentucky. "Mitch McConnell has never been so unpopular nor has he run against a candidate as focused and disciplined as Alison Lundergan Grimes," Hurst writes in his conclusion. "McConnell has met his match and frankly, his replacement."
In a statement, McConnell campaign manager Jesse Benton said: "Alison Lundergan Grimes is a new face for the same tired old ideas of Barack Obama and the national liberals. Her anti-coal, big-spending, pro-union boss platform is severely out of touch with Kentucky while Mitch McConnell is championing the fresh, new ideas of liberty and free enterprise to move our Commonwealth forward.

Supposedly she can beat him, but I imagine it’s a pile of steaming Pravda designed to help Bitch win the primary. Bitch wins the primary, the Dems are guaranteed a win in November, mo matter what the outcome.
Eh? McConnell is a Senator. His district is the entire state.
Whereas Mitch McConnell is the same old face for the same tired old ideas of Barack Obama and the national liberals.
Mr. Spock said it best. A difference that makes no difference IS no difference.
I hope I’m wrong and you’re right, but I really think McConnell’s in for a whale of a battle with Grimes.
you know if you tried you could be a little plainer about your opinion......lol............
Roger, it starts with District support and expands Statewide as said earlier. I guess that the State sometimes has a hard time digesting the actions of our Senators, or maybe just doesn’t care anymore.
.......and being seen campaigning with the head scum bag Bill Clinton isn’t helping her cause either...............
Are we hoping Grimes wins? It seems that way. I guess as long as we take the Senate, getting rid of McConnell is probably ok especially since he wants to reset the votes back to 60 for judges ..
I also hope that McConnell loses but it is going to be an uphill fight against an incumbent so vote accordingly and hope!
How does she know this?
True, because much of McConnell’s support will get behind Bevin and this will leave Grimes far behind.
On the other hand if McConnell takes the primary, Bevin’s support will not follow him because they are disgusted with such a duplicitous character that is McConnell. In this case, Grimes wins.

BINGO!
Is this one of those states where Dems can vote in the Republican Primary so they can vote for McConnell and shut out Grimes ?
Go Matt Go
McConnell is viciously going after Bevin in ways he will NEVER go after Grimes in the General.
The fact is, McConnell and Grimes support the same-exact thing: behemoth federal government.
They just differ on who gets to impose it’s tyranny and wield the leash and the lash - their purpose is the same.
Which is why McConnell is spending so much time, money and effort to demonically destroy Bevin.
As McConnell said last week:”We are going to destroy Conservatives wherever we find them”.
You cannot convince me that Grimes and McConnell are not working for the same objective overall.
McConnell loses this seat.
Take it to the bank.

In the Primary or the General Election? Whaddya think?
I don’t have a link at my fingertips at the moment, but we’ve seen different poll results posted here on FR that say Grimes Defeats McConnell, but, Bevin defeats Grimes.
