I’ve never seen a crane like that around here (north central Ohio). The largest birds that hang out in my stream are blue herons.

I like the cranes. I imagine dinosaurs sounded a lot like cranes do.

Those are sandhill cranes. They’re a common sight in certain parts of Florida; I still remember when two of them chased me. From my experiences with the cranes, I learned two things:

1. They always travel in pairs.
2. They’re not afraid of people!
