When they mention radar is it ATC radar or a military radar? ATC radar picks up what the transponder puts out. The transponder altitude could be faulty. The transponder gets its info from the air data computers. The autopilots also gets its info from the air data system. It uses this data to maintain the correct altitude, airspeed and uses navigation info to maintain the correct heading.

So it helps to know how they got this info. A high flying aircraft can be seen a long way on ATC radar (my buddy says his radar used to see out 350 miles and he’s in a high traffic area) not so down low even for military radar the range is not that great because of the curvature of the earth.

Yeah that is exactly what Michael Kay said on CNN..since the transponder was turned off how is Malaysia able to get this radar? So if this information is true what does that suggest..that the pilots were trying to save the plane, and save the people from a rapid decompression? Yet the plane kept on flying for another 6 hours..the 12,000 foot altitude if the whole point was to save the passengers wouldn’t they all have been able to breathe? I think whenever I hear “Malaysian officials said” I take it with a grain of salt..everything out of their mouths have been lies since the beginning, from calling this a deliberate act to this dont know what to believe anymore
