As a side note, guys. I made it past the first interview and have the second, hiring interview on Wednesday. I need to come up for reasons that I want this job...besides getting paid.
Its a financial department that is creating a new position...basically, an IT person for the department.
The first interview, I convinced them that I was the guy that can do the job better than anyone else. This time, I need to convince them that I want to work for THEM and not be flighty, and go to another place.
One fact is, though I am a computer geek, I know I will be the most awesomely cool person in the department, because financial analysts are even more boring than computer guys, and I am a pretty cool computer guy.
Another fact is, I am 48. So, where I land, as long as they stay in business, and pay me enough to keep a roof over my head and food on my plate, along with enough for $1000 hooker...just kidding...I will be there until I retire or Cali takes my right to carry a firearm away...or I save $100K at which time I will be headed to a remote island where 777s drop out of the sky.
Congratulations Sensei! And good luck! Just tell them you’re a Freeper. That’ll land you the job. Lol Keep us posted.

Hey WMAL listeners. I went on www.wmal.com to find out which Nationals player got traded to Baltimore and can’t find anything. WHo is it?
This caller doesn’t want to force his ideas on his daughter? Why not? If he believes he is right, why would he deprive her of his experience? He is a prime example of the permissiveness that Rush talked about earlier. I believe something to be true, I expect everyone to agree with me, including my children.
Good luck brother!
I am in the same boat at 55, but no bites so far.
I got one of my biggest breaks (in my younger days) as the IT guy brought in to join up with the financial analysis guys. The two areas are a beautiful marriage. Finding ways to present the numbers the Finance people need, as well as giving them ways to massage that data to see trends is both challenging and rewarding. Oh, you will find those Finance guys, they are much cooler than you think.
One of the things that has helped me when asked that sort of question:
I am looking for a place that has enough challenge to keep me on my toes, and the long range security to provide me a place to settle down and be my “last” job.

Tell them you’ll keep the NSA pests out of their lives and off the company’s back.
