Boxer: Obamacare 'Is a Huge Success'
CNS News ^ | March 24, 2014 | Susan Jones

(CNSNews.com) - "Never in my lifetime have I seen a law that is helping so many people be so vilified," Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) told a conference call on Friday.

She talked about the millions of people in her state who are benefiting from the law that Republicans have tried to repeal 54 times.

"This is a huge success, this law. I'm saying that. We had a terrible rollout, it slowed us up, but it's all falling into place now and the Republican answer is very, very simple -- let's repeal it and take away all these benefits from people. And that's just gonna wind up to be very bad for them at the end of the day."

Joining Boxer on the conference call, Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) noted that the Republicans' "original mantra" was "repeal and replace."

"Well, they voted to repeal it 54 times. They've never voted to replace it with the exception of one slap-dash plan offered by three Republican senators a few weeks ago. In the four years since the bill was signed, there has been absolutely no effort to articulate what they would do differently.

"And so the Republican's plan is simply to take away all of these benefits that have now transformed the lives of millions of Americans," Murphy said.

Boxer and Murphy are part of a liberal campaign, organized by the Center for American Progress, to spread the word that the Affordable Care Act is finally working after a rocky start.

"We have launched the Affordable Care Act Works campaign," Murphy said. "We are down on the floor of ...the Senate every week, holding press events nearly every week using social media to tell the true story about how this bill, four years after signature, is changing people's lives," Murphy said.

"Now that the Affordable Care Act is working, now that we've gotten beyond those early months of technological glitches, we have a really good story to tell, and we haven't even begun to talk about how much money this is saving taxpayers," Murphy said.

"So, I do believe that this is an issue that Democrats and proponents of the law can run on, but if and only if we continue to go out and tell the story of the mounting successes in the law."

Boxer said that "truth is the Democrats' best ally."

"And we've told you the truth today. We've given you the numbers, we can back it up, and we're beginning to hear people really happily get out there and tell their stories," she added.

"And, you know, this is -- I think time is on our side. The election isn't tomorrow. And all we have to do is tell the truth about this law. I am so excited about it, and the Republicans' answer is to take away all these benefits, all of these benefits from the people. And at the end of the day, the people are smart."

Murphy said the Obamacare enrollment numbers have been "robust" -- even though Republicans have tried to "undermine" the law.

"So I think you have to -- I think you have to talk about the success of enrollment in the context of a massive effort to try to stop people from enrolling, and -- and ultimately people will figure out the benefit that's available to them. In the long run, these propaganda campaigns that are being waged won't work, and the numbers are going to continue to grow, even in states that are working against the law rather than supporting the law."

Murphy mentioned Texas as a state that is working against the law.

"Imagine if -- if everyone was on the same page," Boxer said. "It would be really great."

Got to hand it to the Democrats. They can lie with the best of them and they stick to it.

Had a State Trooper tell me once, “A lie stuck to is as good as the truth”.

You created an artificial market by dictating what “minimum” coverage insurers must offer.

Many declined to offer those “minimums”, which changed coverage options for those already insured.

Thus, insurers ended certain products, rather than add costly coverage “minimums”, as dictated by ObamaCare®.

Those people suddenly found themselves no longer covered and had some imperative to obtain coverage.

So they ended up in their last refuge for options and took on ObamaCare®.

Most opted for insurance that has extraordinary higher deductibles, forces the consumer to carry a greater cost of those services and drugs than they had previously and costs more than their prior carrier charged.

Of those currently covered on ObamaCare® only around 60% have paid for their coverage. It remains to be seen how “sticky” these customers are but, we should start to see the results later this year as “paid” subscribers stop paying for something they simply cannot afford.

The remaining 40% of those who signed up are comprised of people who have no intention of paying for a servuce they “understand” is free and a small percentage will pay a subsidized rate that is only out of pocket less than $100.

ObamaCare® will eventually fall under its on weight, much like the Elephant Man whose neck muscles could no longer hold his gigantic and growing head.

It will succumb by way of auto-asphyciation

Boxer said that “truth is the Democrats’ best ally.”

it was reported last week that Van Jones said truth is a disease.

FYI

Affordable Boat Act

The U.S. government has just passed a new law called “The Affordable Boat Act” declaring that every citizen MUST purchase a new boat by April 2014.

These “affordable” boats will cost an average of $54,000-$155,000 each.

This does not include taxes, trailers, towing fees, licensing and registration fees, fuel, docking and storage fees, maintenance or repair costs.

This law has been passed, because until now, typically only wealthy and financially responsible people have been able to purchase boats. This new laws ensures that every American can now have an “affordable” boat of their own, because everyone is “entitled” to a new boat. If you purchase your boat before the end of the year, you will receive 4 “free” life jackets, not including monthly usage fees.

In order to make sure everyone purchases an affordable boat, the costs of owning a boat will increase on average of 250-400% per year. This way, wealthy people will pay more for something that other people don’t want or
can’t afford to maintain. But to be fair, people who can’t afford to maintain their boat will be regularly fined and children (under the age of 26) can use their parents’ boats to party on until they turn 27; then must purchase their own boat.

If you already have a boat, you can keep yours (just kidding, no you can’t). If you don’t want or don’t need a boat, you are required to buy one anyhow. If you refuse to buy one or can’t afford one, you will be regularly fined$800 until you purchase one or face imprisonment.

Failure to use the boat also will result in fines. People living in the desert, ghettos, inner cities or areas with no access to lakes are not exempt. Age, motion sickness, or lack of experience, knowledge or desire are unacceptable excuses for not using your boat.

A government review board (that doesn’t know the difference between the port, starboard or stern of a boat) will decide everything, including when, where, how often and for what purposes you can use your boat, along with how many people can ride in your boat and determine if one is too old or healthy enough to be able to use their boat. They will also decide if your boat has outlived its usefulness or if you must purchase specific accessories (like a $500 compass) or a newer and more expensive boat.

Those who can afford yachts will be required to do so...it’s only fair.
The government will also decide the name for each boat. Failure to comply with these rules will result in fines and possible imprisonment.

Government officials are exempt from this new law. If they want a boat, they and their families can obtain boats free, at the expense of taxpayers. Unions, bankers and mega companies with large political affiliations ($$$) are also exempt.

VATICAN CITY (CBS St. Louis) — The Vatican’s chief justice feels that President Barack Obama’s policies have been hostile toward Christians.

In an interview with Polonia Christiana magazine –and transcribed by Life Site News — Cardinal Raymond Burke said that Obama “promotes anti-life and anti-family policies.”

“It is true that the policies of the president of the United States have become progressively more hostile toward Christian civilization. He appears to be a totally secularized man who aggressively promotes anti-life and anti-family policies,” Burke told the magazine.

“Huge success”? By what metrics?

There are MORE “uninsured” NOW than there were as of September 1, 2013. Of all those who signed up, the vast majority were those who had been bumped OFF an existing plan, either through non-renewal, or by the plan being declared “unacceptable” under the terms of the badly-designated “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 20l0”. Not a dent was made in the totals of “uninsured” that supposedly the target of all this legal fandango. The situation bodes only to become much worse in terms of numbers than ever it had been before, with the determination by an unknown number of persons affected by the new, much higher rates that have or shall soon kick in, to give up coverage altogether, and take a chance on health conditions over the coming year, including paying whatever fines may be involved. Plus, a number of employer-benefit plans will either be dropped or modified to the point where the victim, er, insured is no longer covered.

For some people, a little better. For the rest of us, no discernible benefit shall accrue from the widespread adoption of this whole compass of the “Obamacare” fiasco.
