Bachmann explains why God blessed America
WND ^ | 24 March 2014 | Garth Kant

It was a miracle the ragtag, underfed and underfunded Revolutionary Army could beat Great Britain, the strongest military power on Earth.

And it was a miracle that a fragile democracy, the only one of its kind in the world, would go on to become the greatest military and economic force the world has ever known.

Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., said, however, there is a simple explanation.

Americans didn’t make a king our sovereign. We didn’t make government our sovereign. We made God our sovereign.

WND asked Bachmann to explain why the founders believed God blessed America, because she is hosting “Washington: A Man of Prayer, 2014″ on May 7 in the U.S. Capitol.

The congresswoman said God blessed America because the founders recognized the strength of our nation wasn’t dependent upon themselves, their education, their status or their wealth. It is dependent upon the hand of an almighty and sovereign God.

The founders believed, she said, that just as God blessed the children of Israel, that “if we humbled ourselves, if we bowed our hearts and our heads before holy God, then God would hear from heaven. And if we confessed our sins before God, He would hear that confession, forgive this land and He would build it up.”

The founders, Bachmann told WND, “knew their own efforts would not be enough to bring about this nation. They knew it had to be dependent upon Him.”

President George Washington believed that the fate of the new country rested in its citizens’ fidelity to God. That is why he dedicated America to God.

The attitude of our Founders was just a little different from the attitude of our President, much of Congress, the MSM, and, unfortunately, too many low-information voters!

The seeds of the American Revolution were planted in the colonial churches by men like George Whitfield and those seedlings were carried to the battlefield in Christian soil by men like George Washington.

America has so much blood on it's hands since 1973 Roe V. Wade that how could God bless us?

No matter how moral we are, there's too much blood on our hands.

Well, at least we don't burn the aborted, like they do in England. However, Regions Hospital in St. Paul loses babies born dead. One showed up in the laundry and one has never been found. Not much respect. Yes this hospital does abortions.

At one time, Michele Bachman herself seemed to have been blessed by God. In her short but meteoric political career, she created and became Chairman of the House Tea Party Caucus, and in her run for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination she won an early Iowa straw poll and seemed bound for glory.

However, at that point someone (the Devil?) seemed to have persuaded her to hire political consultants instead of consulting with the Almighty, whereupon she proceeded to spend the few precious minutes allotted to her in the Republican primary debates attacking her opponents instead of carrying the banner of the Tea Party.

Because of that the Tea Party had no champion in the debates, the Republican nominating process degenerated into Mitt Romney vs. second-rate Conservatives beating up on each other, and Michele Bachman’s promising career went downhill to the point where she’s decided to retire from the House.

If she’s found God again, as her speech implies, it’s all to the good. Maybe she can build up another following which she can bring to the cause of nominating the best Conservative candidate in 2016. Or has the prodigal returned only to help split the Republican party again?

Sorry .. God blessed America because America supported and defended Israel.

Genesis 12:3 - “I will bless those who bless Israel”.

And .. if anybody bothers to check; the worst calamities that ever came to America came as a result of our country no longer supporting or blessing Israel.

I will certainly miss Michele Bachmann as my Congresswoman. However, never fear. We will elect Tom Emmer as her replacement and he will not cower before anyone.

Sorry .. God blessed America because America supported and defended Israel.

Slight correction: There was not even a nation of Israel when America was founded. God blessed America because the country was founded on Godly principles, by Godly people. God has continued to bless America because we have have (until recently) continued to be a Godly nation and because, since 1948 and until recently, we have supported Israel.

It cannot end well for a country that turns it back on God and on Israel.

Sorry, but God was speaking to Abraham .. WHO WAS ISRAEL - OR THE JEWISH PEOPLE.

So, God said, “I will bless those who bless you [meaning the Jewish people].

Whether we are considered “a Godly nation” or not .. how we bless and protect Israel is the key to God’s blessings upon America.

Sorry you don’t believe that!!!

Did you read all of my post? I agree that a nation's support (or lack thereof) for Israel has a direct bearing on whether or not God blessed or blesses that nation. But that could not have had any part in God blessing America at its founding and through the early 1900's since there was no nation of Israel to support, and, although we certainly did not persecute the Jews, to the best of my knowledge we were far from "blessing" them.

Don't make enemies of your friends.

I don’t recall saying a word about “founding” anything.

I think you have me confused with someone else.

Our conversation is over!
