Yes, and you won’t regret it. I’m like you...I don’t need the latest and greatest ALL THE TIME. I love all my apple products but typically “skip several generations” between upgrades. The continuing software updates that Apple does for a long time on each generation makes for happy customers such as myself.
I did an upgrade to my iPad2 last year and it crashed, losing my music and backups. My first and last Apple product.
