Duane Hagadone
He’s a bazillionaire that owns the CDA Resort and Spa (the one with the floating green). He also owns the dogtrack at State Line, and if I am not mistaken the dogtrack here in Houston.
Uber-liberal with more money than sense. And CDA is a beautiful part of the country, but some serious hippy dippys moved in from California and is in the process of turning it in to California-lite (my personal opinion only).
There is a path of drug and gangs that goes up the California coast, through Oregon, into Washington state, and across the top of the state over into Idaho. CDA is located 100 miles from the Canadian border, 30 or so miles east of Spokane, WA, and has a huge transitory population, along with Spokane.
In his early days, his money came from what he inherited from his father, Burl.
Then he wanted to build the resort, sold off many of his newspapers, and the rest of the money allegedly came from shady sources.
His home in Palm Springs:

Doing the same in Montana, but not so lite.
I think they’ve always had hoboes there. Wobblies too.
