Obama Says Russia Is 'Regional Power,' Not America's Top Geopolitical Foe

ABC News By Jonathan Karl 3 hours ago

THE HAGUE, Netherlands - With Moscow showing no signs of backing down from the standoff over Ukraine, President Obama today took a swing at Russian President Putin's status on the global stage - describing Russia as simply a "regional power."

"America's got a whole lot of challenges. Russia is a regional power that is threatening some of its immediate neighbors - not out of strength, but out of weakness," Obama said at a joint press conference with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.

Asked by ABC News if he now agrees with former political rival Mitt Romney's assertion that Russia is America's top geopolitical foe, Obama pushed back, saying: "Russia's actions are a problem. They don't pose the number one national security to the United States. I continue to be much more concerned when it comes to our security with the prospect of nuclear weapon going off in Manhattan."

"Ukraine has been a country in which Russia had enormous influence for decades - since the breakup of the Soviet Union. And you know, we have considerable influence on our neighbors. We generally don't need to invade them in order to have a strong cooperative relationship with them. The fact that Russia felt compelled to go in militarily and lay bare these violations of international law indicates less influence, not more," he added.

With roughly 30,000 Russian troops amassed on the border with Ukraine, Obama said the U.S. is "concerned about further encroachment by Russia into Ukraine."

"We oppose what appears to be an effort of intimidation, but Russia has a right, legally, to have its troops on its own soil. I don't think it's a done deal.

Interestingly he is LESS and LESS aware of the fact that MORE and MORE Americans are seeing through his weak a$$ act.

You can only lead from behind for so long before people realize that "the king has NO clothes."

Why didn’t he just give Putin the finger like he does to Americans all the time?

“I’m sorry but we need to make things. Right now.”

As I said, until we begin to address WHY manufacturing left, calling for “Maunfacture NOW!” is just a baseless fantasy.

Over-Taxation,
Over-Unionization,
Over-regulation,
Insane and ever-changing Enviro rules,
and UNLIMITED CIVIL LIABILITY, among other things, have all contributed to making US manufacturing unprofitable.

And stupid crap like the Dems pushing a $15 minimum wage, gov-paid healthcare, and Democrat political fascism all help to heap on even more costs to doing business here.

“You can’t even START to bring back American Manufacturing, until you begin to address the reasons that it was destroyed in the first place.”

Follow the money if you want to know why American manufacturing was sent overseas. Too big to fail Wall Street banks like Goldman Sachs had much to do with the tariff reductions and other market opening policies of the government in the 1990’s and 2000’s. They profited greatly selling off US assets, speculating in the stocks of companies exiting US manufacturing and transferring investment capital to China and other third world countries.

Since the early days of the republic the New York banking syndicate has controlled the allocation of capital in this nation, the strength of the currency, and many of the politicians who do their bidding. Real financial reform would break up the too big to fail banks and rely on regional and local banks to allocate capital. Regional and local banks will be focused on domestic investment, not international speculation.

He's afraid of Putin. He's not afraid of us! He should be though. Fresh coat of grease on the Guillotine track.

Obama’s top geopolitical foe is the people of the United States.

Well China ran a 318 billion trade deficit with America last year.

We sold China 122 billion last year. We bought 440 billion.

That is horribly unbalanced. And we do not even own the factories there.

China is absorbing America’s productive capacity.

Bring it back.

Either we bring it back, and lead America to a better future, or at some point enough Americans will be out of work, and the economy here will have sank so far, that the Democrats will simply take of the country.

Republicans we are giving away our own country.

We need jobs here. Right now.

Sorry I misstated that:

China ran a 318 billion trade surplus with America last year.

Even more embarrassing. Obama got his a** handed to him by a ‘regional power’. Next he’ll be getting bullied by city states. San Marino should roll up their sleeves.

Banks in the 1990’s? 2000’s? REALLY?

Where were you in the 70’s when Steel plants all over the country were closing due to the Clean Air Act?

When the small auto plants in small towns across America were closed and sent to Mexico, because the Clean Air Act, and the 1976 UAW Strike result made those plants unable to produce a profit, or assure an uninterrupted stream of parts for the assembly lines?

Time after time, after time, government regulation, Union activism, and ever-increasing taxes have run American Manufacturing out.

And it’s not like the CEO’s haven’t been telling you why, for almost 4 decades now. The CEO of Emerson Electric, which bought RCA, was called largely ignored when he said “If the US is no longer interested in Jobs, I’ll just move them elsewhere” in 1998. GUESS WHAT? HE DID. Most went to Brazil and Malaysia. Around 20,000 of them.

Another Example: The Mercury-filled lightbulbs law cost 35,000 mostly union manufacturing jobs ALONE, and has created a potential civil liability tail that is HUGE. That’s why we went from making them domestically, to importing most lightbulbs from Mexico and China now.

Yeah, we need to bring manufacturing back. But we have to restore the conditions to make it work, FIRST. Grand pronouncements mean nothing without action.
