A Boeing 777 can only stay at 43k ft for 23 minutes?

Any FReepers with more information confirm or deny?

If the cabin is pressurized, the plane can stay at whatever altitude indefinitely (barring running out of fuel of course).

well, considering how long did it take to get to that point. after 12 minutes, at that height, with no oxygen. people in the plane will die shortly. maybe the suicidal pilot did that near the end of the fuel supply, to have everyone “die peacefully” before the plane crashes.

we’ll probably not know the truth until they recover the blackboxes

I saw a 777 pilot being interviewed say that the plane would not have any trouble flying at 45,000 ft.

This was discussed by aviation experts as having occurred at the limit of the range of Kuala Lumpur’s radar.

It was explained as a radar error.

We may never know for sure; the black boxes’ data have been overwritten for that event.

There was an article yesterday that totally debunked the 43k theory. It was never at that height.

I’ve spent 9 hours in a 767 at over 50k ft several times.
