The Most Important Two Minutes of Obama’s Warning to the World (Obama as Churchill barf alert)

When Winston Churchill descended on a college campus in Fulton, Missouri, in March of 1946, he was already a revered figure in the United States. But the former British prime minister, who served as a symbol of stoic resistance to Nazi aggression throughout the Second World War, did not come to revel in the West’s victories as his audience had hoped.

From Stettin to Trieste, he warned, “an iron curtain has descended across the Continent.”

The speech, widely regarded today as a prophetic warning about the threat posed by the Soviet Union, was not well-received.

Barack Obama’s very presidency is a product of that weariness. He was vaulted to the Democratic nomination and then the White House by virtue of his opposition to projects like the War in Iraq and his pledges to retrench American forces and retreat from the battlegrounds of Asia. It is a quirk of history that he is now forced to tackle this great and growing threat to global stability.

While the president would certainly prefer to heed the polls which show Americans and Europeans are deeply suspicious of the notion that they have a responsibility to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, Obama has not abdicated his role as leader of the free world. Appearing before an audience in Brussels on Wednesday, amid a hastily convened summit of Western nations, Obama delivered an unnecessarily flowery address which he surely hopes will be etched into the history books in much the same way Churchill’s unpopular speech in Fulton was.

SNIP

The message implicit in the president’s address is so unpopular that even he broached it gingerly: that American hegemony has yielded a peace and prosperity unparalleled in history, and we should endeavor to maintain it for as long as...

This is an astonishing piece of Obama hero-worship, even for the Kool-Aid drinking media. Obama has precipitated this turn of events by gutting the American military and diplomacy, yet the writer of the article thinks Obama supports Pax Americana.

As I said to Rothman on Twitter, Obama is straight out of the America-hating left. His rhetoric is for the suckers, his actions for his mentors.

Winston Churchill was a revered figure in the United States.

Barack Obama is a reviled figure around the world.

Winston Churchill to his war cabinet:

High priority strategic actions to defeat the Nazis....

1. Destroy means of production and distribution of electricity...starting with the coal mines.

2. Destroy manufacturing capacity starting with ball bearing factories

3. Destroy oil refineries and petroleum distribution networks

4. Terrorize the civilian population.

Seems to me Obama took leaf out of Churchill's "History of WW II"

...and applied it to America.

Here’s how this ‘Churchill” is revered in Europe during a time of hostile takeover of a neighboring country

One thing I cannot get over is how people like Churchill established legacies that celebrated their leadership because their skills and discernment enabled them to make tough decisions. Those tough decisions, and the outcomes that they led to helped save Britain and the Western World.

Today, people are quick to slap on the label of “greatness” on people who move them emotionally, but do not deserve such praise. In other words, Churchill set an example. Obama’s hero worship is based on feelings/projected delusions because the imaginations of his faithful followers have crafted their own heroic image of him despite the quality of decision making that traditionally causes chaos, confusion, and calamity.

So is this rubbish the new leftist meme meant to give Bath House a pass? Why, it was all bad luck!

NO. This "growing threat to global stability" can be laid squarely at the weak feet of Bath House and his Smart Diplomacy™.

China is another threat down the line. Our children will pay the bills for his lack of fiscal restraint and they will also spill their blood for his feckless foreign policy.
